View Full Version : kenny need advice on track day
alright man I've been thinking about the track day thing... what has to be done to the ten to be uhhh "legal??"? this is just a experament to see if i like it. so do i have to safty wire everything or what do i need? give me the 411 on what has to be done
AFAIK, taping up/removing all lights and reflectors, removing mirrors, replacing coolant with plain water, and having a good set of tires are about as much as is needed for the average track day.

When Kenny rents Roebling we don't require much bike preperation. Neither does Jennings GP on open track days. All they require is taping up your head and taillight. Other trackday orgs. require a lot more prep.
But for your own saftey more is always better. If you don't feel like saftey wiring everything I would atleast get a torque wrench and double check all of your oil plugs, axle and pinch bolts and brake bolts. Draining your anti freeze is a pain in the ass but a good idea. If not for yourself but for the people on the track with you.
And most importantly TIRES. I wouldn't use anything but real race tires but some people like the new performance street tires for track days. We have race take offs that will work great.

Be sure to take lots of water and sport drinks too, plus snacks or lunch.

Theres a lot of compounds to choose from and 4 different tire construstions that Dunlop offers. I would suggest maybe a American 208. Only one compound to choose from so its not confusing. You can get a set for like $259 from the Dunlop race tire service. Personaly I hate them but there are a few quick guys that use them.
