View Full Version : Boat Rentals/ Charters
(copied from DK's post down below)
If I have enough interest from forum members shade tree will offer Jet Ski / PWC rentals to forum members this summer. Please chime in here so that I can get a feel for who would be interested. If there is enough then I will start the leg work for the operation.

id love to go out a couple times this summer on a PWC... only reason i dont do most rental places is they have crappy slow skis.... i wanna go fast! :wtg:
I'm pinning this to the top for better visibility.
DK, how about a price structure of some sort, any contingencies, what's included and/or what's not, whether it's self-pickup or meeting at a location, etc.?

Count my Husband and I in also.
I want to make them available to forum members. Those who have not previously owned PWC will have to take instructional clinic.
I will not rent to general public unless they have proof of previous PWC ownership.
Rentals get about $75.00 per hour.
This will be a pick up drop off deal from shade tree and would rent for around $150.00 per day.
In order for general public to gain the ability to rent PWC's they will have to pay $100.00, attend and pass instructional PWC clinic. Those persons would then be granted a membership for Shade Tree PWC club.
It should work out to be a lot cheaper than PWC ownership and far more riding time in addition to using the boat at your chosen destination. Without having an eye on the operators I must teach them as much as possible before they just head out.
Still in a conceptual phase at this point , but I think we have it pretty well figured out.
Should be fun.
So it sounds like regular (not you) rentals are $75 an hour, but you're considering renting PWC to us for ~$150 a day. Does that include fuel, or will the boats be full, and have to be returned full (like a rental car)?
Since you'll be holding classes, that means a schedule, and probably a minimal participation (say, four students).
Yes, classes would be small. Boats should be returned with full tank of gas.
We will have 5 Yamaha PWC to rent. So at this point I could get 5 people in.
I may pick up a few more boats when I sell off some others.
I am trying to stick with the yamaha 650/701 based Ski's at this point as we have the most spares available for them.
I will schedule surf sessions for superjet and waveblaster. A rare chance to thrash around in the surf. These will be weekend events I will ride at to show some new guys the ropes in the surf.
Surf sessions will require a wrangler (all seeing eye), but other than those customer will be free to choose there riding destination.
Sounds like there is a nice buzz here already.
Can't wait for this summer.
Still building these boats. Looks promising in here right now.
Stay tuned it's on the up.

DK,
Have you thought about setting-up shop on a beach, or harbor inlet somewhere to cover the oppertunity crowd...such as walking down the beach...hey this guy rents skis...wanna get one?
I know that makes it difficult to give the safety lesson, but I think a waiver drawn-up by a good lawyer would waive any liabilities by DK enterprizes, Co, Inc, and Associates.
Just a thought.
I have given it some thought. (Other location)
Don't really have the time for it as of yet. We'll see.
Dizzy, check out Charleston Yacht club for sailing lessons, they used to do them years ago and the college of charleston has a huge program. I would be sure someone from the college does lessons on the side.
