View Full Version : drumming up forum membership

So, uhh, what do we do to get more active members? Put out fliers? Talk to local businesses about pushing our forum? Hook up with 98X and the like for promotions?

I took a gander over to scriders, and I have to say that this place is doing better, maybe even much better, but... it could be doing really great. There are hundreds if not thousands of people in this immediate area that are bike, ATV, PWC, and car nuts, so... how do we get them involved here?

Suggestions?

do what i do with my forum ( FastGM.com )

print up biz cards... something like "Nice Bike!.... " and then something about the site.

then hand them out when you meet someone cool.. or on a cool bike, ect...

Yep, I've done and continue to do that, although I'm about of of cards, and I'm sure the ones I left at a couple of shops are long gone.

I have a few cards left here at KWS. ( like 10 ) I think I may have more at home will have to check.

As far as getting more active members in here, I will have to see if my noodle will start working and give it some thought.

ive never had any real luck leaving cards anywhere public, like a shop.
the real thing to do is get ALOT made, and hand a STACK of them to each member...
then everyone has some in their car/bike/wallet to hand to someone... one or two people dont have a very far reach, but put cards in the hands of 20 people, and you get atleast a few new real members every month..

the other thing id do is go on the AFB... thoes guys tend to be in the right demographic... (20s-30s with large disposable income) and they're all bored.

oh, and you guys should post more.. it makes lurkers like me actually come out and post. lol.

Yeah, our posts have been down the past month. Really not sure why, but I know I've been pretty busy.

I did bring up the card idea to Mike...about giving us cards to give out, but I've yet to see him. I do think that's a good idea, especially since I see both car and bike guys.

MrDude_1

really, you just have to let people know about it.
heres how i found out:

now ive been on car forums for years... and when i was 18/19 i did goto the tree some weekends... but i never thought to put the two together.. lol.

i was actually on a car forum where someone was asking about recommendations for a new bike... someone else posted a link to here saying to ask there.
thats when i realized, hey... theres a local bike board.

until then, id never heard of it.

When I was involved in a website like this out west we used to carry small buisness like cards that we just printed out and just place them on bikes when we saw them. It just said something like "for local ride get togethers visit this site ...." then when you see a bike you just put it in between the tank and seat or on the speedo or wherever you can secure it where it will be seen. worked pretty good. We drummed up hundreds of members in no time.

You can print bumper stickers and then have hot girls use them as pasties at Myrtle Beach Bike Week. That should catch some attention.

Hey, i'm in the Air Force and I know for a fact that there are a lot of people on base with bikes and I'm pretty positive most don't know about this site. We have a bout 20 or so riders in my shop alone and I have already let them know about the site and about the tree. I've seen them on it here a few times so all we need to do is get the word out. I'm willing to do whatever!

Check it out. I have a gerber machine at work. It's the machine that all these big companies use around here to make signs and shit. I will make 100 stickers. 50 red and 50 white. They will read www.cornerjunkies.com. I will make the "cornerjunkies" a different font so it will stand out and look pretty sweet. I will make them approx 1.5" tall so they won't be incredibly huge. That way they won't clutter up the bikes or your vehicle. Which ever you decide to put it on. I can only make a limited number of these and thats the reason for only having two colors. It may be possible for me to make more in the near future. I will bring these 100 to the tree this sunday. They will be passed out on a first come first serve basis. Each person recieving two. They will also be free.

No prob!! So here's what I got. The size is 1 1/8"X12". That is the smallest I could get it whitout having to be right up on it to read it. That size should fit almost anywhere on a bike and still work for a vehicle.

I can throw them on the racebike and get some attention that way. It's the least I could do for Mike K. for all his support. Never know, it may show up on Roadracing World.

Well .........?

Why not an add in the newspaper or just a billboard on I-26 to run for one month .......

Consider it ......

If all forum members want to drum up more members for this site than coughing up a few bucks for a billboard may not be a bad idea.....

The only issue I can see is all the younger crowd going crazy with silly posts...

Myself included in that one ..........

It is destine to happen ..........

What do we want here all performance oriented users or the car show crowd ?

Give me an idea ?

I gave the stickers to Kat. I'm sure she still has some left. If you are interested in some, get with her. If she doesn't have anymore, I can easily make some and bring them to the tree again. Just holla!!

No problem. Let's see... site membership for all KWS employees will now be $20,000

...I understand the pricing, though. That's some pricey real estate, but that's how the game works.

interesting subject.. having capable people on the streets in the biggest factor.. I left charleston and SCRiders went to shit

multiple people have said they could do this and do that, but noone has

I could easily build it back up if I had the time, but I would rather someone local buy into it and promote it from there..

someone local could sell advertising and promote bike nights etc and make a cool chunk of change

I would sell half of the site for $1000 and let whoever buys it sell advertising on it and keep 75% of the ad money

they could make $1000 back on just ad sales easily within 6 months, not to mention promotions, shirts and other extras
