View Full Version : Painting my bike
I'm getting my tail section painted. Who does everyone recommend around the area? I'm told Pro-tek does pretty good work, but I've never heard of them.
That's easy: Andrew/Headhunter, if he can still do work on the side.
or clevies customs in summerville
I'd like to see some of Andrew's work, first. Does he have bike pictures he's painted?
Randy, where is Clevie's Customs?

Andrew painted my ZX12 before I sold it. You can ask Barry what he thought as well. Very good job and not too expensive. If I can find some pics I will post them for you.

ProTec does a lot of high end painting for custom bikes, and cars in the area. The owner Kenny has made a big name for himself. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that he is the one who painted Ty's old 96 gsxr 750 with the blue and white race stripe. He also did a great job painting some pieces for my zx9 years ago.
Everything that I have seen that was painted by Andrew painted was great. Including Steve's zx12 and Kenny's old F4 race bike years ago. The question is does he still paint?

Yup, painting full time again in West Ashley.
Andrew, can you PM me your phone number?

How does your old/new boss feel about side work? It'd be sweet if he let you do your own thing every now and then.

Small jobs can be done that can be done quickly are no problem, but larger jobs (ie; entire bikes or cars) will have to wait, unless anyone wants to pony up serious $$$$$.

Thanks Andrew, forgot about them yesterday. That still looks good. Kinda miss the old 12.
Thanks for all the help, guys. I went with Pro-tek since he's had prior experience with Ducatis.

I hope they do better quality than what they did on Ty/Lance/TY/lance/chad's GSXR-750. I'm not real sure how having prior experiance with Ducati's would matter?

Sorry, i missed this thread...I'm not saying they will do bad work, I just was less than impressed with a couple things on the "viper" style pain job...namely the paint they used chipped real easy and there were some runs on the edges.

Trust me, ProTec's quality has come a long way since 1996.

Let's hope so, but I'll know for sure here soon.
I got my tail section back today from Pro-Tek and all I can say is, WOW! Jimmy did one heck of a job. The thing looks as good as OEM, if not better. Highly recommended!
WTF!
Nash has a motorbike ?
I thought he was going to buy one of those new can am things as his only compromise.......
(Kidding Nash)
Nice one......................
:worthless:
Pics coming, but the bike is still in parts.
The first exhaust was for 03/04, so it didn't fit...I'm getting new one tomorrow, and hopefully it's the right one. I also want to get you guys recommendations on stripes I put on the wheels ( know Barry doesn't like them). They were a pain in the ass to put on but the look pretty good while sitting still. Now once they start rolling you may see the out of line imperfections.

The tape looks good; paint, too, but it's hard to tell one way or the other from a pic. I'm sure it's as you describe it :wtg:
