For those of you who follow World Superbike you've probably already heard of this. Now it looks like its really going to happen though.

So now that Ducati is getting what they're asking for from FIM and they are going to have to produce and SELL at least 1,000 of these 1200cc superbikes one has to wonder if the 1098 is not long for this world.

We shall see...

i think thats great.... heres why:

first.. it will be fast. theres a reasonably good chance they will have an advantage. they may or may not win the championship.. but others will take notice.

remember how the RC51 came about? the rules were too skewed towards big twins for Honda to ignore... well... they may be that way again... id LOVE to get my hands on a 1200cc neo-RC51... especially if they can work their modern magic to shrink the package to as small of a bike as possible.

Right now, World Superbike is the best it's been in years. Now that Ducati isn't dominating, they want the rules changed? I think FIM is making a mistake and you have to wonder about that Italian conspiracy. Several other teams said they would pull out if Ducati gets the extra 200cc. So we'll see, but I think it's bad for World Superbike and MotoGP has to grinning about now.

Now for street bikes? It's pretty cool. Ducati is also making a version of the MotoGP bike for the street at cool cost of 60,000 euros!

You took the words right out of my mouth Dave. I think this is the worst thing that could happen to the WSB.

ok, i agree it may not the best thing for racing next season... but WSB will recover, even if it all goes to shit at first.

what i really like is the thought of the street bikes that might come out of this.....
