A few days ago some asked about if anyone had info on this .
Well the guys name is David Smith 21 years of age. He rode a GSXR 600, his first bike. He was traveling down the road a bit fast heading into a curve. They think he might have stood the bike up and ended up going straight into the wall. Over the lad goes. I have been told that he has a broken arm, tore liver and the brain is bruised.
I heard he didn't make it. Good to hear he did make it.

Which direction was he headed and which exit did he attempt to take?

Man, how many times have I heard this same type of story? Be it me, Jeff Mantillia, Brian Brewer, Lance Sudano, Chad Walton. We really did lucky all those times. I hope the kid pulls through.

The overpass connecting 526 to 26 in N. Charleston. If you're coming from West Ashley headed to Columbia.

me too.. hell, i cruise thru there at 70+ with my S10 (assuming theres no traffic.. gotta turn your head and look across the curve first)
i think it was the curve on the james island connector going from west ash to james island, i heard either the bike and or him and the bike went over the edge on that hairpin corner right before you merge, i saw the cops looking down over the edge after it happened,
That must have been another one, but the one we are talking about was on 526. We saw the emergency crews there and we talked to the Fire Dept a few minutes later, which was when they told us about what had happened.

From what I had learned this weekend the guy is stable. When he went over the ledge he landed in about 3 feet of water. An ex EMT was behind him and saw what went down. He stopped and jumped over to help the rider. It is said that he had about 1 more minute to live, very close to drowning.

Kenny you need say no more. And dont for get the late night race of champions we used to do coming back from downtown. Oh and dont for get about Rob Kacy...damn we were stupied back in the day. Things like this should teach all you "road"racers out there to take it to the track guys. So much safer.
glad to hear he is ok, people need to know their limits.....

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum, and bikes in general, but i found this thread and thought I'd thank you all for your thpoughts as this was one of my best friends, and a member of a car club I am really close with. If anyone is interested, we are holding a charity car and bike show in september to help benefit the scholarship fund set up by his parents in his name.

Is this the Clint I met Tuesday? If so, congratulations on your new bike and welcome to the forum.
Do you have a flyer of the charity event? Do you need volunteers? Help advertising?
Welcome to the forum Clint :)
Please post up a separate thread about the charity ride once you have the dates/times/etc.

David Smith was my boy. We played alot of golf at Crowfield & he changed
my oil a few times at Gene Reed Toyota. I wish I had known that he bought
a bike so I could of throw some protective karma his way.
