Hey it's shane here.........I just got back from the local drag night, which was a freaking blast, 32 bikes showed up, which I thought was a pretty good turn out for it being cold & the 4th try at this............so this is what happend to me, Note that I'm not the drag racer at all, but by the end of the night I really was getting in to it, basically I had a whole lotta fun.
also for you guys that know me I was riding the busa, which is stock:
1st run of the night:
ran a 7.450 @105.91 which sucked & forgot to lower the air pressure on the rear & was spinning bad threw most of the track. ran about 8 more times practicing & stayed right around the 7.3 range, was trying to figure out how to do the whole drag racing thing.
Prelim:
dialed a 7.22 & ran a 7.25, then all hell broke loose & we al got to run again, the track guys screwed up & restarted the whole race.
1st round:
dialed a 7.10, ran a 7.223 @107.1 when I shifted into secind the front wheel came up a bit & the back tire was spinning almost the whole way down the track........I won
2nd round:
dialed in a 7.15 ,ran a 7.193 @ 107.85, this run I was really starting to get into it I lowered the tire pressure again down to about 16 lbs, before the run & finally the damn thing was hooking up..........I won.
1/4 finals: dialed a 7.15 again, ran a 7.150 @ 106.57 finally got off of the line a little quicker & let off a little bit on the back half.....win avance to semi.
semi's:
it was me & Larry lined up & I knew he was pretty consistent on that gsxr1k so I dialed in a 7.12 .....well wouldn't you know I ran a 7.07 @ 108.31 & broke out, damn it I should have backed off a bit......I lost but I was glad Larry won the whole thing * I still got a little trophy, which really cool. & for Randy ( mister zx10r ) well he didn't make it. He lost in the 2nd round when he broke out & lost to a guy on a SV650 which I thought was funny.....only because he was really the only one who had been drag racing lately, LOL sorry randy I had to put that in there.......but all in all I had a blast & glad I wasn't working so I could go.

Tell me it ain't true Randy. You ain't King of the strip? How could this be, you invested so much time and money and you lost to a sv 650? You lost to someone with a bike that makes less than 70 hp! I had tauted you as the hands down winner since last week. First I see Jason beating you drag racing last week now this. Larry is the KING OF THE STRIP and he isn't even a serious drag racer. I think maybe drag racing isn't your forte. So you may as well give road racing a try now.

Shane congrads on your trophy and beating Randy. Larry, congrads on being the KING OF THE STRIP. Come on give me the new somebody, how did some of the other guy's do? I really hate that I couldn't be there.

actually larry is king of the strip and jason wasn't there and yes keith beat me but that was expected in all honesty there wasnt much competition there for the bikg guys i don't think anyone of the big guys were much drag racers

No No NO yall got this twisted...
Ok I entered the bracket to help. I knew I didnt stand a chance because Of the way the bike was set up. I entered because they {at first} didnt have enough entries. So I did it more as a goofing off thing. The bracket race was only about 30 or 40 min of the night. The Rest was all heads up raceing. WITCH I DIDNT LOOSE! AT ALL! As a matter of fact all the "Im going to spank randy's ass" Bikes Wouldnt even line up with me. Yea "Sorry shane" Wilkerson and shane said they wanted to race me and Wilkerson even garanteed a "W". But after seeing me doing warm up passes that was it. I did'nt see anything over a 600 on the otherside of me for the rest of the night. Oh I did get to run a drag kawi once and won then too. So If anyone wants to start posting time slips im down!

well well well. looks like the drag bug bit last night. The awsome part of last night was that 32 bikes showed up and only 5 didnt run. and when i say run i mean RUN! The stageing lanes were packed all night! I know everyone got a shitload of passes in. Allen with the gsxr showed us numerous times what a 1/8th mile wheelie looked like. The busa brothers couldnt get enough of each other! Everyone was safe and took it easy the first couple of times untill they got use to it and man did everyone get serious REAL quick or what?!?!? The track was hoocking good for most of the night and watching alot of runs from the stageing lanes showed me times were getting better. Congrats to larry who won the bracket race on a gsxr 1000!!!!!!!! Yall dont understand what a feat that is! but the 1000's and 1300's have a hard time in bracket due to a lack of consistentsy. However larry did it witch is a testament to his rideing skills. DK from shadetree motorsports showed up and had a ear to ear grin all night long. I also think everyone should know that the staff at the track had 4 people call in sick AND still held it all together! we had a couple of hick ups but all in all definatly a A+ job done by them. Just to let you know I watched them dump a whole bottle of VHT on the track before everyone showed up. Thats like $200 worth of there shit. Kieth was serious as a heart attack last night in raceing so Look out ricky gadsten lol kieth im sure will be on a liter bike real soon tearing the strip up. Mike showed up with logo's and took a shit load of pictures witch im sure we will all be seeing soon. I also have alot but still need to sort threw them. I cut my personal best time last night at a 6.177 @ 125 mph. It was freezing cold and We were all shivering but rollin the shit out of our bikes. AND then when you think "Well this will be it for the year" everyone ask "when we doin it again?" WOW! I thought after freezing our balls/tits off last night yall would want to back off! but hey Im down. We also talked about doing a 1/4 mile track. the nearest one is about 2 hrs away. and there test and tune is on thursdays. But we will be working on this and we will put it together with ALOT of notice. This way you guys can put request in for time off. Im thinking spring. Thanks again for all who showed up and everyone who raced! I had a blast!

Randy was the fastest bike out there last night. Second was a 03 R6 that was lowered and had a PC, Exchaust, filter, chain, race gas and some other work. He even had me. I was third running 6.8's with just a slip on pipe and pump gas. Randy was the only 1000 I didnt beat last night. Considering how much money the only two guys there that could beat me had spent on there bikes I am not complaining. Oh yeah Chris when are you gunna sell that R6 I beat you on last night. I could use another bike.

Damn, Keith you were smoking man! You might be on to something here. That's is really amazing. So you whipped up on Chris again too. Well you should leave him alone now. If you raced him any more it would look like your picking on him.

MAYBE.............THOUGH MY NEXT BIKE WILL BE A SUZUKI UNLESS I COME ACROSS A HELL OF A DEAL

in all farness kieth I think You should have raced him... The blue r6. I had faith. When you drag race and your close but looseing you dig alittle deeper tuck a little harder. EVERYtime I have broke my own record was when I WAS trailing. I cant explain that either. but yea I think you should have ran him. what did he have you by {as per he said} 4 or 5 tenths? I raced him more like MAYBE 2. he was fast but no as fast as he thinks he is.
