From someone we know in the AMA Yamaha racing world. We were told that the new R6 is one bad mother fucker. The engine is VERY VERY STRONG. Being that the R6 will be in FX Honda better watch out. But anyways the R6 tail section had to be modified for Jamie hacking because the R6 is so small in size!
But that is it for now!
Beer time!! :pint: :pint: :pint: :pint: :pint:

Sweet new R6 video. It's ~74MB, and worth the wait:

That is a sweet video. Well worth the 10 years that it took to download. I now want a new bike more that ever. Does anyone know the rear wheel hp #'s on this bike yet?

Kenny, I hope you ordered an extra helping of these things, 'cause I don't see you having any problems selling them: http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/Article_Page.aspx?ArticleID=2662&Page=1

I saw somewhere 126hp. Maybe just claimed, maybe at the crank, dunno.

That is more like the hp number at the crank. The current 05 R6 was about 105 hp. I expect this one to be in the 110 to 112 hp range.

11-11-2005, 07:58 AM
I agree. On the high side 115 RWhp

Its going to be bad ass. Lets just leave it at that.

Would love to race one but I don't look as goffy racing on my big fat Honda SUPERBIKE.

I think that Yonce boy may already have already spoken for our first one. That is unless the kang wants one too?

i read that it has 140 at the crank

i read that it has 140 at the crank

So did I. That will be around 115 to 120hp. Very impressive, if true.

Damn, forgot to log in. Anyway, how much does it weigh?

SUM650

I think that 120 hp is very unrealistic. I hope it is true but I would have to see it to believe it. Bike mgf. always come out with those shocking hp numbers at the crank before there bike is released. If kawi isn't making 120hp on there 636 then yamaha ain't going to do in with 600cc's. I hope it will but I just don't believe it. The 05 R6 had a dry weight of 357lbs. I would expect the new bike to be between 5 to 10 lbs lighter with the titanium engine internals, new frame design, and gsxr style moto gp exhaust. I don't care how you look at it, this is going to be one bad bike.

As far as power goes, I have dyno graphs (?) of 03 R6's used by a Dutch race team showing 132 (in 03), so it will probably be easier to reach that number now in 05. Damn ugly thing, though. Wonder if my old bodywork would fit easy............

Well I will have to agree with you on that one. The gixxer 600 is so bad that it should be in the same class as the katana. Although Chris M. had one of the baddest gixxer 600's in town. That little 600 was out running some of the 1000's around here. :smirk:

SUM650

No, but the cheap leather ones can be a little bit grabby.

CBRjunkie
12-16-2005, 01:11 PM
They never grab hard but you can fell them snag a little on small imperfections in the road. Kenny did rip his leathers one time at VIR but that place has huge bumpy alligator strips (rumble strips to some) and his puck grabbed one of the big indentations and ripped the leather open on the knee. Very similar to what happened to Disolvo but he hurt his leg.
