well I had chad from Luke's in moncks corner tear the motor down and the news is not so good.

I dropped a valve. I have a bashed up head but luckily from what I have heard the bottom end is intact and not FUBAR.

I want to know if anyone with maybe some experience would be down to help me get this fixed up so I can get back to riding. Im not asking for people to come over and do the work cause I am totally capable of being a grease monkey but I need direction since I have never worked on a bike before. I have a head coming to me that has cams already in it and I will be getting that pressure tested and valved. Timing shouldnt be too bad cause it just putting it right back to stock and I believe the chains are marked but hell i could be wrong.

Ill supply beer and pizza and whatever else. I just want my baby back!!

let me know if anyone is interested.

Do you have a shop manual yet? If not, that's the first thing I'd borrow/order/steal.

you may want to wiegh the cost of repairs to the cost of a used engine because I can tell you the if you dropped a valve there is a 99.9% chance that something is damaged and you may not be able top see it even though it looks ok

that was my first thought but i got that head for such a good price (not saying it isnt some evilbay fucker and the biatch is cracked) but i thought i would give it a whack. im def. going to inspect the bottom end before doing anything.

through my engine knowledge especially with fucking around on my friends 1G talon TSi I know all about timing belts breaking and what bent valves are capable of. He had a hole through his piston the size of a half dollar and the walls were marred beyond recognition.

these are the two things im worried about in the bottom end. only one valve dropped from what I hear. all other valves were intact and from what I hear there is just a shiny spot on that one piston but no dent or visible damage. of course integrity is one thing on my mind because a weakened piston at 13000 rpms and whatever:1 compression is bound to create stress fractures.

im just looking at this from all possible aspects. i would love to put a lower mileage motor in and it would probably be the best thing to do and easiest. but its goin to be a couple more paychecks and commission checks before I can throw down for a new motor. ill see what the damage is today and ill let yall know.
