everyone this was an amazing event and turnout.....i would like to make a special invite for those who facillitated this event to come out this tuesday night 7:30 at wings etc.....i'd like the opportunity to show my thanks and appreciation for the selflessness of this group...
chris r.
Thanks Chris, guys this was posted by Chris in another thread.
I would like to say some things here that deal with the HALOS ride. First, there were a lot of vonlunteers to help and we needed each of you. Everyone did a fantastic job and really pitched in. Several people did double duty at the start/finish and others helped in ways that might have not been so obvious. I think the total number of bikes were between 180-240. There were around 250 signatures and some of the passengers signed on the same line so the total bike number is a guess. I can tell you that exact dollar amount and that is $1,375 at the start and $594.00 at the end totaling $1,969.00. The number of toys in the trailer collected didn't get counted so I couldn't even speculate on that. The money at each location was verified by at least 4 people before anything was done. Elisa is going to take all the money to work tomorrow and change it out for $ 100.00 bills to make things easier at the toy place. This should really be a great year for HALOS and everyone should consider this years ride a real success!
We need to decide when, where and what time and who all wants to get together to do the shopping for the toys. Right now the tentative plan is to do it Monday night at KB toys where the store manager has said that he would give us an additional 20% if we had a min. of $500.00. We crushed that! So I will start another thread for the shopping. I would like for this thread to deal only with the ride and to answer any questions that people might have. THANKS AGAIN and if I cursed I would tell you all that you did a great fucking job, but I don't, so Great job!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now to the items that I need to address.
First I think there were too many gifts at the end. Now that by itself should be a testiment to how much work was put into this event and how much effort and success it was gathering these items. I think this could be fixed in the future by placing a number like 20 items and if we have 100 donations, then we give out 4 at a time and try to match values on them.
Second, I think the auction took too long and people were starting to leave and the sun was setting. Next time we need to adjust the start time or the raffle time or limit the number of items at the end. Again, great job on everyones part.
I think everyone should be proud of this event and I think you guys represented the website beautifully. Can you imagine for one minute how those kids are going to feel waking up Christmas morning with presents? It will make me very happy and allow me to think of 2007 as a great year. If I had to rate this event on a scale from 1-10 with 10 being the highest, I would give everyone a 11. I have a phrase that I thought of that applies to all of you: "I put the trust of the kids with each of you, and you came through." Great job, Great job, Great Job!!!!!

all I can say to that Russ is AMEN BROTHER!!!!!!!!!
At least we now know what a great team we truly have and how well most of us worked together.
Lady Cher and I have already started talking about our next RIDE, so watch out everyone, it is going to be even better than this one..
HUGE Congratulations to you RUSS, You should be very proud of yourself.
Hell of a turnout :wtg:
I remember someone mentioning school supplies being low as well. Maybe someone could call HALOs and get the skinny and possibly consider allocating some of the donations for that possibly equally good cause.
I'm working on getting the pic gallery done.
Pics from the 2007 HALO ride are here. If you're interested in the full sized originals, let me know. All proceeds above cost will go to HALO organization, just like the toys and funds that were donated during the event.

i need to make ANOTHER thread, just so i can make the stupid comment i was going to make in the big halos thread.
ouch... i hurt my legs more walking around all day at the halos thing then i did crashing on I26.
(locking threads sucks BTW..... you never KNOW if someone had something to add or not.... if its over, then it'll die down to the bottom of the page on its own... thats how forums work. )

maybe you should look around the forum. There are two open HALO threads available, but I do recall you saying you hit your helmet......

Rusty said it all. But I personally just want to thank EVERYONE who helped out. I had several people to come up and say that this event was one of the best charity events that they ever attended in Charleston. All of the vendors did a fantastic job for us. Hooter, Cross Roads Leather, and Esp. my buddy Wing Etc.. Chris thanks to you and wife for handling this. I know she worked her butt off.
Last but not least thanks to Mr Corner Junkies himself Mike K.. Mike with out your forum we wouldn't have had a place to plan and make all of this happen. I appreciate all of the hard work that you put into keeping this forum running.

I hate to start naming names because you always leave someone off that deserves to get mentioned and they might take it the wrong way. But Everyone did a great job from the start line, to the stops, to the finish, to gathering the items needed to seting up the locations. I can't express how great each person and location went. And I'm not saying the raffle auction was a problem, I'm only saying our team gathered a heck of a lot of prizes to give out!

Exactly, but I would like to do one thing when we get everything finalized. We must post up the names of every single store, shop, and vendor that gave to support us.
I lied I do want to publicly thank one person, my buddy Rusty.
Rusty you did one heck of a fantastic job. Your leadership made this thing happen. Without you there to pull all of our personality's, differences, and qualms together, none of this would have been possible. You assembled and ran one fine team. Most people don't know how much time and personal funds you devoted to making this happen. All I can say is :wtg:, a job well done.

I also, want to thank each and everyone for all of your help. And a special thanks to the ones that don't even have bikes...... SHOPPING TONIGHT AT KB TOYS OUTLET (9:00) TANGER. The manager is only giving us 15% off, but has coupons she can then use, which will save us more.... also, 50% off KB TOY EXCLUSIVE plus 15% additional (65%) to help some of you>>>>>LOL :smilebig: I am still waiting for a list from HALOS on ages to buy for. This has been a heart felt way of sharing for both Dan(Turbo Storm) and I. It made our year

Here are some suggestions for this event if it is done next year the same way or style:
Get all 5 stops to be open for business and ask each of them to give us about 75.00-100.00 to help cover the our cost like t-shirts, buying Items we need, police, etc. In return, we can place their companies logo on the t-shirts as a sponsor.
The route should be the same or a little shorter than this past years. With all the stops being open, bikers will move around the store and shop before leaving. Also, I think something is needed at the start line to occupy the bikers for about an hour but I have no idea what.

I would of been all in. Let jason know, he can make it happen, he now knows how to push the "buttons" :wtg:
