I've been cuting alot of the weight off the bike (lighter sub-frame, etc) but I wasn't sure what I wanted to do to the engine. I'm not looking to be supersport legal so i know that opens the door for some things. thanks for the in-put.

I don't know if you have heard this or not, but unless your a pretty seasoned racer you really don't need to spend time or money into hp or weight saving measures. More power doesn't alway equal faster lap times.

Faster lap times is what every racer is after. The best way for amatures to get faster lap times is to practice, practice and more practice. After a few races under your belt you will want to spend money into the suspension. Maybe after a year or two of racing you will be at a level where a lighter bike and more hp is required to turn faster lap times. By then you will realize that you really need another bike.

There are a lot of people here that can tell you how much there lap times have fallen just by doing track days. Quite a few track day pros, and expert racers come here, so hopefully they will chime in with some more helpful input. If you really want some advice from a pro, go see DK over at Shade Tree. Trust me he is the MAN!

Sum650 makes a good point.
However in order to answe your question further you will have to tell us what you have done to the bike first.

Yep, unless you're already an experienced racer trying to squeeze that last .1 seconds per lap out of the bike, your money is much better spent on track days/practice, rubber, and suspension mods, in that order.

He was a yellow plate last year , but the boy is fast. You may want to get a newer bike, it will have better suspension and more usable hp. Barry is right 100%, but to your defense, you are pretty quick and if you can't get a new bike, that bike's setup is now dated and you will need the HP. With that said, KWS. Good luck look forward to riding with you in the white plates :evillaugh:

:evillaugh: This kid was the fastest AM from CHARLESTON last year! I think he might be faster than me. So some extra HP would do him some good.

Well shit, if Kenny and Jason say you're fast, you're probably past just more track days and tires... but is your suspension as good as you can make it? Optimized geometry? Gearing optimized for each track? What about lighter wheels (forged, magnesium, carbon)? Nitrogen in the tires?

I was assuming that this guy had never raced before. BTW deseta 1 what is your name, did you race ccs, wera, and how was your season. You already know Jason and Kenny so I would start with there advice.

If your moving up to expert next season, you probably already know that most people would not be able to compete with a 05 honda to start with. Every top expert will have a 08 Suz, Kaw, or Yam but probably not a honda. I can only guess why. But in any case they will all have the latest bikes with the latest suspension, and several thousand dollars worth of motor work. Money and lots of it is required at this level for sure.

I thought the new Honda was the bike to have this year?

well I can say we built a 07 zx6r and we have found some flaws and some way cool atvantages. to be fair i will start with the flaws...
The bike has NO sack down low. i mean short of a wet shot of nos this bike has got pink skirts for low end.
Mid is like most sport bikes. it makes decent power.
Top end holly kaw! this thing comes alive! you can visably see it start to easily chase down any other 600 out there. It is a real beast on top end. We tried gearing it to bring some power down low and did get some results. however short of putting a stunterific sproket on the rear there is no way to get great low end power.
that being said on the track your all up top in the rpm range.

Low end power wont do anything for you at a road race. Geting the head decked is a good place to start. Maybe a valve job, port and polish the head. Ceramic bearings in the motor. thats what my 05 R-6 had and it had 125hp. The honda will make about the same power. The draw back to the honda is the weight.

We can all assume that Jason's new R6 makes a few more ponies than 125. So if an individual had a 05 honda with the stock 105 hp out there, he would be pretty much wasting his time.

not fast with cold tires. oh, that's right, you've got the "cordless" chicken hawks.

haha thanks for the in put. names alex deseta... yeah the honda was my bro's bike so thats what i'm working with. I'm doing almost everything to lighten the bike, trying to find a new sub-frame. as for suspension i'm working with 20 valve ohlins, and ohlins rear shock. I agree lots and lots of track time, but it would be good to have a little more power.. thanks for the input. kenny can't wait to grab a tail section and follow you around.
