I found a hole in the roof of my trailer. Something had fallen on it and punched through. It's easy enough to patch up, but it occurred to me that I could install clear Plexiglas or something similar on the roof to lighten up the interior, and to strengthen the roof.

What do you guys think? I think a combination of rivets, nuts/bolts, silicone, and/or JBWeld would do the trick.

I've been meaning to finish the trailer for at least a couple of months, and I haven't made any progress, so it's high time I got on with it, especially now that the season is starting back up.

I guess it depends on the trailer but it sounds like it would work. I'm assuming your just putting in some sun roof type panels of plexi and not the whole damn thing.

i think its a bad idea..
in the summer, your trailer is one of the shady places.. with the front door and the rear open, it can actually be cool...
i would imagine adding something like that would heat it up like a greenhouse... espically when parked in the sun with everything closed.

what would be cooler is a flip top panel like some RVs and Buses have.. when its closed, its just a top, but you can crack it open for some airflow, or flip it all the way open to let light in and heat out...

Hell the hole is already there, put in the A/C. Probaly cheaper than paying for plexiglass. I know a place on line that you could...............whoops. J/k, but seriously an A/C would be a fairly cheap install.

as for the leak they make a polyurethane caulk called np1 the only 2 places that i know to get it would be ace royall hardware in mt p or buck lumber on maybank hwy james island but np1 is the way to go by far also they have it in a variety of colors ...........if you use it try not to get it everywhere ...................and for what it is worth i use it on multi million dollar homes,my trailer and whatever i need to seal it cost about 6 dollars a tube
