When is everyone going to head back to the track? Obviously it will have to be jennings otherwise it will be too cold everywhere else. Give your input.

I talked to Barry yesterday and he is talking about going in Jan to jennings. Well I guess no one liked riding on the track that is why none of you want to go.

Jennings is still cold in January. We about froze our asses off last year there. :cold:
BUt sounds like it would be fun if we could get a crowd together.

Maybe we could get lucky and have a weekend where it is in the high 60s or low 70s. That would be great but don't hold your breathe on that happening.

I hope so cause I really need to get on the track. I fell like a crack addict that needs a fix.
My best friend and I have every intention of going to the track sometime between the middle of January and and the middle of February, so ya'll just pick a date, let me know, and you'll have two riders guaranteed to show.

I'm thinking about going to Jennings in Jan. I am still trying to get people to go with me from around this area.

Well someone start throwing dates when they can go and we can start getting a firm date before Jan rolls around. Also check with Jennings calendar to see when they are doing track days in Jan.

12-18-2005, 10:22 AM
Well I checked the site and the days are the 8th and 9th or 21st and 22nd. Now that we know the days lets start getting this set up.
ok just asking. when i drag race in the cold those are the coldest 6 seconds of my life lol so how does this work at the track.
SUM650
12-18-2005, 11:44 AM
The 21st or 22nd would probably work for me. Of course this is weather dependent. Doing a trackday in 50 degree weather isn't my idea of fun.

Well who else is going to give their input for dates? I guess someone needs to start putting names on a list for the 21st or 22nd.
Depending on weather:
Barry
Steve
Kristin?
Matt?
Kenny?
Jason?
Mike +1
Jun
Like me and Barry just talked about, the cold isn't so bad but on tires it is along with traction for some (probably not me). Anyway post up!

I'm not riding unless it is not unreasonably cold. At those speeds it you lose the feeling in you're hands pretty fast. Can be a little dangerous if you know what I mean. Plus I don't care if you call me a wuss or not but I can't ride fast when it is cold so what is the point. If I go it will be a last minute desision.

I say that since they are predicting weather 10 days in advance that we have a 7 day prior to the track day go or no go vote. Within 7 days they are pretty close in most cases unless there is alot of weather moving around then it is iffy  . Anyway how does that sound to everyone? We need more input from everyone interested otherwise I will just start another thread to waste everybodys time looking at it. :wall:

Anyways sounds cool to me. Have a few things to do to the bike but I should have plenty of time before the proposed weekend. But it would definatly be Sunday if I went. Just watch the weather.

Too soon for me also. Need more notice that is why we are trying to get people to commit early so they can back out at the last minute as usual. Chris said he may also go again. Now all we need is Alan Connor, Alan with the ZX6, John on Jasons old bike Dave Winslet with the R1(now has an R6) to go.

Hardly any bike prep is required for Jennings. Fresh oil, fresh tires, remove your mirrors, tape over your headlights and tail lights, and I would remove the kickstand if you have a rear stand.

I'm in if I can find a bike, mine will be in Savanah on along with Ben & Eric Bostrom for a Red Bull event. The area manager for Red Bull is a friend of Matt, Jason and I, so when they needed a bike for the lecture they are giving he asked and I couldn't say no, especially since they sponsor us. So if anyone has a ride I can use (DK/'98' 250gp  ) I would be greatful. :wtg:

hey uhhh do i need tire warmers? as a matter of fact... what do i need. i know i need someone over to the house to help me safty wire this thing....
Yep, if you want maximum consistent traction, and to extend the life of the tires. Safety wiring wasn't, and probably still isn't required at Jenning for a track day.
We're still going unless it's actually raining on that day.
Does anyone have a track bike I could borrow? I have one (the FZR), but I'd like to be able to get out on the track with my best friend, and we obviously can't ride the same bike at the same time. I would of course assume all liability. DK already offered me the use of one of his GP bikes, but I'd be too worried about the bike to have much fun.

I second Mike. You don't absolutely need tire warmers but it is a good thing to have. If you are buying new race tires, then they will allow you to get on the track and go about 90% of your race pace the first lap and as Mike stated they will extend the life of the tires a little. It's definitly not a must have, esp. for a beginner. If you don't have warmers you just simply take the first few laps at a slower pace and then you drop the hammer. One thing to remember is that your there to have fun and trust me you will. Your not the next moto gp god so don't worry about speed. You wont be the fastest guy there and you wont be the slowest either. One more thing before you go, once you get on the track there is no turning back, you will be hooked! Drag racing will be something that you used to do.

I usually stay at the day's inn Lake Park Ga.. The # is 229-559-0229. Tell them u are a racer and you are going to Jennings GP. They should give you the discounted rate of about $40 / nite. You figure that you should get 3 people into a double room, so that's only like $15 / person if you include the taxes.

Well how did everything go?????
Uhhh i had a good time. matt blew his motor. so that sucked. If i had to say anything bad about it..... There were sooo many people there that Pro's had to sign up for novice. so the learning curve was shoved Dramaticly up! Kenny told me that this wasnt normal though. The track was just packed. I would recomend anyone who was planing going to a track day for there first time to go when were haveing a hard time finding people. This way the race pace isnt SOOO fast. more time to soak stuff in.
I lost my usb adapter for my laptop but we looked over the pics. I got mike draggin knee on turn 12 on the sv. Jason same turn on the street fighter also. Got kenny's bike but no kenny. he was on the other side of it. lol WILL BE POSTED BY TONIGHT!
A damn good, and safe, time was had by all.
As usual, I shot lots of pics. This being my 2nd time out there shooting, I can say that I've improved, but still have a long ways to go, especially towards consistency (hmm, kinda like my performance on the track :help: ).
Here are some of my favorites from this weekend.
Most are around 1/9th their original size. I did some post-processing, resizing, and cropping. The rest of the images will be available in the gallery in a few days (not months, like last time :hic: ).
