Group Gatherings

A friend of mine fairly new to the area mentioned to me that he would like to get to know more of us. We were discussing how we knew this and that rider by face and name but little else. He shared that the group of riders where he used to live were close. They had each other's cell numbers and could call each other to ride (not just on designated Sundays). He would like to start a similar tight knit group here.

I am prone to agree with him. The more of you I meet and get to know, the more I am glad I started riding not just for the ride but for the people. With Mike working nights, there are times I'm itching to go for a quick spin but am hesitant as a female to hit the pavement by myself.

So that more people are included with our plans, perhaps we could use the calendar more even with gatherings that have nothing to do with riding. For example, when a group of us meet for dinner or even something as simple as catching a flick.

I think that is an awesome idea.

I am the same way as far as knowing some of the riders. I think it would be great to get to know everyone beyond the "oh that is so and so and he/she rides a ________." Commeraide ( do not think I spelled that right) is an awesome thing! I think that if we take the time to get to know each other on another level it will build respect and loyalty for each other.

I think then the rides will become more enjoyable because you are hanging out and riding with people that you know and care about! Plus it gives us something else to do when riding is not favorable.....

Kudos Kat for a great idea...I am game.....

It does sound like a good idea. Just let me know what is up. Though there are many times I am as quiet as a dead person and times I'll talk you head off.

Yeah, it would be nice to get to know the people that you ride with! I mean I have only gone to the tree a couple of times and so faces are familiar and then some names are too. So it would be nice to be able to put the name and the face altogether and get to know that person.

I think it would be fun just to hang out and get to know each other. I am sure that there is more to us than just bikes........

You can be quiet or talk our ears off.....that is you and you should share that with the group......

we allready do thid. there is a phone tree we hit up often. However in the winter it has been quiet. and it will be. i am expecting it to rebound after daytona

Meaning this new person Kat is talking about may not know you or have your number. That is why he would like to have a group gathering so he can get to know the riders and be able to hang out with them and become part of a tight group.
