So I keep hearing about riders wanting to go to the track, but being financially unable to because the price of entry is so high - you have to get a track bike (or risk destroying your expensive street bike), get a trailer or a truck, get a way to pull the trailer, get leathers and boots suitable for the track, get a pile of miscellaneous gear (most of it mentioned in the track FAQ thread). I can't agree more - there was a time when going to the track, for those very reasons, was inconceivable for me as well.

Here's my idea: get a community track setup (access to everything mentioned above).

To that end, I'm willing to donate the use and upkeep of a perfectly good track bike, an FZR600, originally built sometime in the 90's, and fairly recently brought back to life by DK. It's not a pretty bike, and it's not the fastest bike out there, but even utterly destroying it would be cheaper than
scuffing one side of a new street bike, and it makes for a great tool to learn on... hey, it was Kat's first street and track bike :smilebig:

The whole set up could be loaned out cheap - chip in for maintenance and parts/tires, that's it. We could even have a pool for spares, for when the inevitable happens. If there's enough interest and funding, we could get a 2nd bike, etc. etc. etc.

All you old timers, track fiends, Rick-James-I'm-rich bitches, how about pooling our resources together, and for once doing a charity of sorts for ourselves, for newcomers to the sport, and for the future of riders in this area?

WHO IS WITH ME?

As an alternative, we could start off less ambitiously and do something similar with 50's.

I think it's an idea. And it's awefully nice of you to donate it for use. I think there shoud be a deposit on it if it does get going.

Intresting concept Mike...I'm game. What do you have in mind for a place to ride it?

Thanks, I think it's an idea that could be refined over time with everyone's input.

Where to ride? That's easy - JGP, RRR, CMP, etc. - real-deal race tracks, none of this unfinished-neighborhood crap, otherwise it would defeat the purpose.
