Hey everyone,
I'm looking for a 600cc bike for my first bike. I would prefer a CBR but I'm not that picky. If anyone has a F4i or a CBR for a good price please let me know.

You may want to consider something like an SV650 or a Ninja EX500 for a first bike. Much more user friendly and you won't lose as much money on it. They're cheaper to fix too when you drop it in your driveway. :)

while i agree with ND4SPD that a 600cc sportbike (that i might add, is faster stock then the fastest racebikes of 10yrs ago) is NOT a good first bike....
..Champion Honda has a couple sitting around that id bet they'd deal on pretty good.. i think i saw a used 600 out front last week too...

I agree, I would probably be better off with a F4i but I just love the styling of the new RRs.
I have riden before so I wont be totally green.
I meet jason at champion last week and they didnt have anthing used 600.

I have a 2001 Championship R6 that I'm trying to sell. Needs Regulator Rectifier or Stator replaced. Has a slip-on Micron, fairly new chain with 1 down 2 up sprockets, a K&N Filter, and all the Carbon Fiber pieces I could find for it, Fender Eliminator Kit, After market mirrors, after market turn signals front and rear, and white trick tape on the head lights.

Nice, how much? Everything else ok with it? The 01s were carburated right? How many miles?

I was thinking 4,000 which is under what they go for on cycletrader.com The only other issue is some road rash on the upper left fairing. I laided it down very low speed in MB one year, rear tire was flat. If you want you can come by and look at it this weekend.
I think it has about 24,000 on the ODO, but i put a bunch of miles on it after the sprocket change, so that's not entirely accurate.
Geez, I'm sorry i always forget that 2nd gear slips if you get on it hard. Randy thought it might be the clutch letting loose. Heck if I know.
It's up to you if you want to come look at it now.

Sounds like I may have to purchase a 2001 R6...So I would have two...Then I could make one good one...Potentially...It may take up to three or even three and a half to make one good 99-02 R6 :smilebig:

Well what the hell did you do to yours then?!?! I have just hit 18,000 and I cant keep the thing running to save my life...It ran PERFECT until I put lucas fuel additive in the tank...Now its a struggle to go over 40mph, and I have completely drained and refueled the system TWICE and been through about three tanks of gas........What are some common R6 problems? Have you experienced any? If so, maybe I could start throwing those parts at it now so I can hit 40,000 too....:D

All I did was change the oil, oil filter, fuel filter and cleaned the air filter ever 3000 miles or sooner. Change the spark plugs and antifreeze every 16,000 miles.
As far as problems go, on the 99 R6 with 74,000 miles on it...I had to replace 2nd gear at 12,000 miles. And at 64,000 miles I had to replace the electronic rotor.I had No other problems with that bike.
On the 01 R6 with 40,000 miles...no problems as of yet. This week it is being sold to a co worker and I am picking up an 08 R6.
Hope to have the same luck with that bike.

Yeah, this is pretty much what I have heard from everyone...I never have good luck with anything though, so I have the first known R6 with problems...the rest of the world will be fine, but as for me, no matter what I buy it will always be garbage with a LOT of issues...:wall:

I have checked out the site before, searching for a thread that may lead to my problem...Once again, everything pointed to the regulator/rectifier or the stator...My bike charges, and holds a charge fine. Plus, Derek deemed both parts to be in good working order. Perhaps I should join their little forum and chat with some of those folks...It probably wouldnt hurt to hear what some other R6 owners have to say...Not to mention get opinions possibly world wide, rather than just here in the southeast! Thanks for the input...I am off to their site to poke at them for a bit! :evillaugh:
