That I find extremely difficult to believe. Although "development engineer" isn't saying straight out "professional driver" or "former __________ driver", I doubt it was any 'ole Chevy greasemonkey that was allowed to drive the car, much less push it to the limit. According to that list, the car and driver were the 10th fastest ever, and that doesn't happen without an exceptional, hand-picked driver.

I'm sure that's true, but I think GM was saying the guy works for us and wasn't a hired gun to improve the time. Now whether a hired "pro" could go faster is yet to be seen, but I think it's very possible.
