Ok so here goes my hello paragraph.
My name is George, Im friends with dan, found out of this site through him, and now im here:)
I also plan on meeting you guys and doing some track time, and getting out to the legendary (deals gap). Ive been into motorsports and modding vehicles since i was about 14. Ive performed in dragracing, autocrosses with 90's model toyota Mr2's.
My first bike I have riden on was a 1980 Yamaha GT80 that my dad handed down to me when i was 13. In 2007 I bought a 07 Gsxr 600(new) and have been riding that up until it was stolen SEPT 20th 2009 from sc(15,1XX miles when stolen) thats with me not riding it for 1 yr in between. (aholes were lucky I was out hunting) :( Few months later I fell in love with the 2009 Gsxr 1000. This is the bike I plan on tracking. At the same time i love to ride and ride about every day even if theres a storm :).
oh yeah, im from the Philadelphia PA area.

I would like to see what you think of the platform i am trying to put together. Plus would like to see what you plan on doing the duc like, that is gonna be a cool base to start with. I have been wanting to do the cafe bike for about two years now and now more than ever. Give me a ring.

I've always wanted to do a track day but, never did. Grown up stuff always seems to get in the way. So, I'm hoping to do one this year.
I'm a fairly safe rider... ehh, most of the time, and I'm not really looking to race anybody on the street. I just like to ride for fun on the weekends and hope there are some other guys here who are the same way. I look forward to possibly riding with some of ya'll.

Welcome Ed! There are several guys here in the same boat you are. We have new riders, pro/amateur racers, and everyone in between.
We haven't been doing many rides during the cold season, but now that the weather is getting nice, we'll be doing more Saturday/Sunday brunch rides. Our rides are not competitive, and the group will typically have a wide range of experience levels. We like to play around--they are sportbikes, after all--but safety always comes first. You'll typically see us all at least wearing helmets, armored jackets, and gloves.
As far as track days, there are plenty of guys on here who do that sort of thing that can answer any question you have about it.
Come out for a ride sometime! Just watch the board for info.

Not sure if Momma will let me out next Thursday for the Hooters bike night. The ride varies from week to week. And its just about like any other ride around Charleston. You have some crazy riders and you have some chill riders. Just ride your ride and don't be influenced by anyone else. The couple that I've been on haven't been that bad.

OK, then let me be the first to warn you, bike thefts in Charleston come in waves, and your bike is a ripe cherry, easily plucked. Please hide it, put it under a tarp, chain it to something (thieves pick bikes up, so a wheel lock isn't enough). whatever you have to do. Gone in 15 seconds... :crap:

I agree with Mike. Do whatever it takes to make it hard for someome to run off with your bike. Steering wheel on lock, disk lock and in gear did not stop a tow truck from getting my bike in Daytona. It took 2 guys less than 5 minutes to have my bike on the rollback. Got my buddies bike too. Luckily we saw the truck leaving and stopped them. Still cost me $$.
Point of the story is, unless it is chained to something, it can still be hauled away. Safely in a garage with motion sensors tied to the alarm system, works for me.

i wouldn't even trust a chain, dan. the last apartment i lived in, the maintenance guy caught a couple guys sawing the chain that attached my jet ski to a telephone pole...in broad daylight!
the only way to ensure your bike doesn't get stolen is to never let it out of your sight when you ride it somewhere, i.e., don't ride to northwoods mall and walk around and then expect your bike to be there when you come out. nevertheless, welcome to the site guys!!

Hello all,
I am Kosmo AKA Kos. Moved to the area last December from Cleveland, Ohio. I was lurking here for a while and finally joined. I hope to meet some people to ride/wrench with. Visited the KWS motorsports and met with Chip and Mike (he set my suspension real nice, still stock though). Stopped by DIY motorsports and met Sean, John...that place is cool, never had a facility like that in ohio.
My current ride is a Kawi ZZR600 (essentially it is a 98-02 ZX6R). Riding since, I was 7 year old but doh...broke my collarbone on my very first track day few years back :wall:. Lesson learned hardway......"don't push your limit with an OEM stock Dunlop D270 tire". Really interested to check out Roebling Road for some track days.
Just been to deals gap, 28 (moonshiner/hellbender), blueridge, cherohala two weeks back for the annual trip.
Finally I am originally from India (dot not feather), kinda geek :o but not on a bike :ninja:

Just moved down here made it out to sin city bikenight last night looks like a good crowd of riders out here. I ride an all matte black ZX6R its filthy, fast and old but I love it to death. Been to deals gap rode through many of the eastern states and do plenty of long distance get lost type riding. I am a trained motorcycle tech in all brands and an ase certified master auto tech. Glad to help anyone with their bike down here and I may also be looking for someone who is good with bodywork, Mike

Hey Mike, probably missed ya at the Sincity bikenight. Next week thursday come to the hooters bike night, the group rides to downtown around 10PM from there. If you see a brown Indian weirdo that would be me...:D
Should have some wrenching and beer party sometimes/somewhere...:pals:

Well I am new to the area from NC. Moved here shortly after a high side, so I came with a busted up bike. But after numerous packages shipped to the house and long nights in the garage I have a bike!!! I am ready to ride and going through curve DTs. I know there is nothing like where I am from but I need something. Hope to ride with some of you soon.

Hey yall,
Just moved here last spring from north GA.
I am riding an 06 R-6.
Found this site through CL. I am hoping the tree is the 1 at northwoods mall?????
Heard talk of it but never had time to go.
My buddy from work (gsxr750) and I are hoping to learn some decent roads from those of you from here, We have found a couple down towards johns island but nothing like my GA mountains.
I have been to the gap but prefer the skyway just south of there.
Be safe!!!
