Tip: clear silicone causes rust.. BAD rust.. Just know this from personal experience. I used to install windshields, and I remember a specific 97 jeep Wrangler which had its windshield installed with clear silicone (lol, who would have thought that would even be remotely safe) After a year of the windshield being installed by the genius that used the silicone, the pinchweld that the windshield is normally glued to was eaten through in several spots, and SEVERELY rusted everywhere else.. Not a great idea, but there are many different options for sealants :)

BTW the silicone ate through the paint AND the metal.
