I saw it in person at Indy. The new front does look terrible, and the exhaust size is now that of a cannon.

They had it running at Indy and it sounds like a quiet V-twin at idle. Definitely different from the old models.

Big bang firing order. Should be interesting to see how it does in racing next year. Supposed to be a tad down on power compared to the other bikes but much smoother on delivering available power.

I did talk to one of the yamaha reps at Indy about the new R1, after 1st giving him a list of complains about my 07.

The new 09 R1 should address a lot of my complaints with the 07/08 R1. The new bike will only have a few more hp, but the power curve is now shifted to the produce a little more low end torque, and a lot more midrange. The larger radiator, combined with the new cannon size exhaust will now produce less heat. The 07 R1 is almost unbearable to me.
