Thats why they have something called protective clothing. I know it can't prevent all but would you want to walk around like that?

It hurts to see those pics .... Thanks for posting them or the link any way ...

If we could get some pics like that posted on this site, it would be a sobering reminder of what can happen....

Kushitani to the rescue.... (For me)....

Would like all to post up about equipment (riding gear) and how it has performed in your experiences in a crash... (Road or Track)....

Many new riders still don't have an idea of what to buy .....

Get them in the know ......

had a lowside (street) early october '05. wearing oxtar boots, jeans, joe rocket blaster jacket, icon ti max gloves and my lid. took a little rash (less than what she took on her right arm) on the right knee from the initial impact. once on my back, the gloves, jacket and boots took the rest. my lid never touched, but it's doubtful that you'll ever see me without it. would have been a lot worse had i not been equipped as well as i was.

I have to admit I have been stupid enough to ride without gear in the beginning. With Mike being a gear nazi himself, time and a couple close calls have sealed my love affair with riding gear. Now, if I just sit on my bike without any gear on, I feel naked.

I love my gear. I hate seeing people having their helmets strapped to the bike while they are riding. ( dumb asses ) Just wait the warm weather is coming so we are sure to see the guy in shorts ,tee shirt , flipflops and no helmet. In the begining I only wore jeans, tee shirt and gloves. Not anymore!!!

To tell the sad truth, the only time I really went down was after getting bumped at an intersection, in traffic, low speed, wet roads, NO RIDING GEAR! Shades and steel-toes, jeans and regular shirt, no helmet, no gloves, no leathers. Just being a stupid kid with his first bike. Those steel-toed boots saved my ass when the bike happened to land right on my foot. Total damage? Dislocated bone in hand, sprained wrists (one broken), slight rash on palms, knee and sholder, mild concussion, hyper-extended and sprained knee, bent handlebars, busted headlight assembly. Picked it up, rolled it off the road, smoked a cigarette and rode home with the headlight bouncing around (now being suspended only by the harness) in the dark, in the rain, with no glasses (they broke). From Summerville to West Ashley. Didn't really start hurting bad untill I got home, and then I guess the shock kinda wore off, leaving me in the kind of "Oh shit, this is bad" state of mind. Went to the hospital the next day (my employer made me go, yup I went to work) and got the pleasure of RE-LOCATING A DISLOCATED BONE IN MY HAND, and some draining of the knee. So, lesson learned? Maybe. I still ride sometimes with no gear, but I'm educated in the possible negative results and accept the risks involved. I try not to ride faster than I'm willing to fall while attempting to show courtesy to other motorist (while avoiding their dumbasses!)
