I am going to get a new set of rubber when I get back in December. I can't make up my friggin mind what I want to get. The Bridgestone BT-002, Michelin Pilot Power 2CT's and Dunlop Qualifiers are what I am trying to choose from. I do plan on doing plenty of track days at the NWS. I know you guys won't fill me with a bunch of B/S like some sales rep will. Which would be best for street performance and trackdays?

I have never heard anything good about the Bridgestone BT-002 or the Michelin Pilot Power 2CT's. Dunlop Qualifiers are great ( next year they will have the all new Qualifier out sometime from what the guys at the Dunlop Test Track tell me) And the Pirelli DCIII's are great also.

They are nasty!

they're whats on the hawk, and i liked them... plus they seemed to work in winter, so i figured if i was going for sport tires, i should go with what i know dont suck completely in the cold.

I've run the BT-002s on my bike before. They're pretty good and they let you know when they slide. Mine did, about .0002 seconds before I highsided myself to the moon. Not saying it's the tire's fault, just what happened.

Not sure how the DCIIIs compare to regular Diablos which I've also run, and absolutely loved!

Pirelli DCIII's

I have them on my street bike and I love them. I've hit the mountains with them a couple of times a they worked great.

I know this wasn't on your list, but I have a set of dunlop 208's on another street bike. These are the worst tires that I have had on a bike in 10 years. When they are cold you may as well be on ice. Poor mileage, and as usual with dunlop tires the front tire is cupping. Before someone ask, I did keep the tires inflated properly. :nay:

I heard that dunlops have that problem. I have read good things about Pirelli but never owned a set. It looks like I am about to though. I just wanted to get some opinions from you guys because I knew that most of you have had a set or two of them. The set I have on my bike are mismatched. I hate it. But when I got my biked fixed after last years spill on Guerinn's Bridge, Lukes but a Continental front on the bike. I wasn't going to complain, they saved me 3k in parts cost when fixing it. Thanks for helping guys and I think i'll go with the Pirelli's.

I went through two sets of Pilot 2ct's on my 600rr and I think that they are the best tires I've ever run. Went from a pilot power to a 2ct and it was like I was riding a different bike. More confidence in corners, etc... Plus, I got over 6000 miles out of a set. Michelin makes the best tires, period.

:shrug:They're ok... but I like Avons more... on my FJR I consistently get 10K from the rear and 14K from the front, and much better cold/wet weather traction than anything else.

I rode the track at NWS like 2 months ago with Michelin PP and worked ok. Once they got a little hot and slide a little so I just slowed down.

BTW this is not a true track day like what Kenny does at RRR. The drop off is like 2-3 inches which is not good if you run wide or too close in.

Yeah, I kinda figured it wouldn't be a "true" track day but I guess it's better than the street. I need to get new tires to repalce the mismatch I have anyway. I think I am liking the Pirelli's more and more everyday. I keep reading very good things about them. Everyone says they are stickier than Michelin's but more difficult to turn in. Basically because the profile of the Pirelli's is a little more round. I'll take stickier any day of the week!

Well said. You forgot to add..FREE

It's great for bikes like mine (low HP) but, you will have more fun on your bike at Roebling.

I want to hit RRR and Jennings this year. I am working like crazy getting the bike back to 100% and getting a set of leathers. I am hoping to get a set after the first of the year. Hopefully I'll be able to hit the big tracks by spring and first of summer.

It'd be nice if they let us bring guests to the NWS. Think about it, you're taking more riders off the street and putting them on the track. Sounds like a win-win to me!

Long story but I will give you the short one.

DOD can't sue the DOD.
Civilians can. Even with a hold harmless agreement there will always be a way.

Main thing is too keep the 18 year old kid with a GSXR-1000 for a first bike from trying to act like the streets of CHS are Laguna.

Sorry Greg, I can not make it out this time but hope to catch up with you guys next time.

NWS is definitely better than the street and a good place to learn how to ride fast. I did learn something while I was there and yes it was free. Free=Good!!!

I law suit issue does make sense. I just wish there was some way. But knowing the DoD, the issue won't get resolved anytime soon.

If it's free...It's me!!!
