Hey,

Anyone know a good place to do convertible top installation that's affordable and relatively quick?

My top just started getting worse all of a sudden and I really need to get it replaced.

PopsTop's is way expensive.....

Thanks
Garrett

I haven't done it myself, but by all accounts it's pretty easy. You can get a good quality top on eBay for around $250.

Mike, I think you still have a Miata top here around the shade tree.

1993 ?

Dizzy, what year is the car ?

Yeah, no joke. I need to come by soooon to get better pics of that car. Now that mine is gone, there's hardly any point in keeping it.

mine's an '95, so his should work, what year is it?

if it's an NB, than swapping the frame and top together is easier than just swapping the top, popular mod from what I gather on miata.net

Freakin' popstop wanted almost 600 just for the labor, convertible top specialists wanted about 475 labor only, I need to get into that business a top replacement should take far less than 5 hrs a professional

Awesome news is I just found a hardtop in savannah for a really good price, supposed to pick it up this saturday. Though it's blue.

I might still be interested in your soft top if it's not in too bad of shape.

Dizzy,

From what I remember the top is near new. Was new before this car was wrecked. Just needs a decent cleaning, the rear window is fine.....

Drop by and check it out this week if you want. Just get up with MR K on details.....

cool, I know it's a long shot but that one didn't have a hardtop on it at one time did it?

I can use the hardtop without the side striker plates, but I'd rather have them for a more secure fit.

No hard top, for a while it had no top. Plenty of leaves though.

Shade Tree

The top has been stored indoors and just needs a good cleaning.

Here's the results of yesterdays road trip to Savannah.....

I'm half tempted to not paint it but rather add some matching race stripes to the car that match the top...

If you are still interested in replacing your top, then I would recommend Gradys. They are located on Dorchester in between 526 and Montague. If you are driving on Dorchester heading Southeast, it will be right after Montague on the right side of the road. Its about a 500 ft long driveway in between a bunch of buildings, but they do have a sign on the side of the road on Dorchester.

A buddy of mine had his convertible top replaced on his 'vette there along with all of the weatherstripping. It cost him $500, and that was to remove all of the old weatherstripping and replace it with new stuff. Thats what really increased the price. I would expect them to do the top alone for about half that price, and the fact that yours is not a corvette should make it less too. Everyone likes to charge more when you own a higher end car...

Anyhow, might not hurt to give them a call. They did good work, and it was a fair price. Fast too. Grady's Apholstry on Dorchester.

Cool, Thanks for the tip!

The cheapest local place I've spoken too was Bendt Bros for 950 for everything but wouldn't tell me what tops they use.

Pops quoted like 850 IIRC just to install the top if I supplied it.
