My new bike is coming along fairly well, but the aluminum color of the rear pegs annoys me. I thought about removing them completely, but then I was reminded of the occasional need for them...

Just wondered if anyone knew whether or not black spray paint would hold up, or if I'd end up needing to re-spray every weekend.

black spray paint wont hold up very well at all if its used.

if you have a hugger on, then the inside part will probably be ok, but if you dont, then small rocks will sandblast the paint off.. and it ends up looking like crap..

although, if you take them off and dissassemble them, it wouldnt cost much to have them powdercoated... then they'll last longer then you'll probably own the bike.

I have the stock hugger on now, cheap plastic. I'll buy a painted one if I ever decide I have some money to throw away.

I didn't really consider powder-coating, guess I never thought about it. I know there is a place in Summerville by Pops-Top shop that will coat just about anything you bring them for a price...

I'll let ya know how it goes....and thanks.

Powder coat it, not too expensive and will last

Best powdercoating around is "Mark's powdercoating" in Monkey's Corner. 843/478-6275

Glad to hear some people talk about Mark's work. I plan on using him to powder coat my swingarm, and a bunch of other pieces

Powder coat that swingarm Gold.
You cant go wrong with that. I want the gold vortex rearsets.

A bud had Marks do some lower control arms. Looked like hand polished lacquer.

PM Mooseload.

He had a bunch of his parts powder coated black and it's held up pretty well.

I was going to suggest Powered Coating too, can't be more than $100 for both.

I called marks powder coating and asked him for a price on the following parts:

- Swingarm
- RearSet
- Passenger Pegs
- Gas Cap
- Sprockets
- Case Covers (both)

He said about $175. I plan on paying a lil more because 1 of the rearsets, and both passenger pegs are already powder coated and will need to be stripped.

Either way that should put into perspective how much your pegs should cost.

I'd think $30 to $40

But geez $175 for all that is very cheap.

Well it's good to be in like company sometimes ;)

BTW way, I see from the pic you post that your rims have red stripes. But your avatar is a night pic on the stripe is reflective. Is it really reflective or is that from the flash?

Frosty

They are definitely reflective, best $10 I've spent in a while! They might be getting replaced soon though...just because I found someone who will do the same thing but have the GSXR750 logo printed on pre-curved strips, so they should apply much easier.

I have plenty of leftover tape (red) if anyone wants it.

Cool. Post a big version of both pics if you could.

The camera flash helped illustrate how reflective they are, but riding at night with them is a lot of fun. Increases your visibility (safety) and helps the necks break as their heads turn.

With that exhaust it's not the rim stipes that make the heads turn quickly. Although riding the other day it wasn't too terribly bad.

Haha, you're right...that pipe is hella-loud. I really like it riding around town, nice and obnoxious.

The catch-22 though: When I start riding a bit harder, the new sound confuses me a bit. When I thought I was approaching 10-11k rpm's I was only at about 7-8k and it really threw me off. A few more rides and I should get the hang of it.

Evan's earplugs seemed like a good idea, I've ridden with a MP3 player before and it was cool. I normally don't because I'm addicted to the sound, but if it'll help me concentrate when I want to fly then I'm all for it.

Yay for replying to myself....just wanted to mention: On my 600 i had the carbon fiber yosh and it was too quiet. I went with the Jardine GP1 because i knew it would be louder, but i didn't think it would sound like a damned airplane.

fasterthanyours

It's always ten times louder than it actually is when you have you're helmet on.

Although that's a pretty sweet looking bike and the exhaust is nice!

Ive got the same pipe on my gixxer750. Sounds good for the money, and is nice and small.

Love to have a shorty on my old R6, I think the neighbors would have my ass though.
