As most of you have heard. We have been talking about planning a local ride to Savannah. Well the date has been set. It is Sunday May 15th 2005. Here is the idea so far. We will meet at the Hardee's in Ravanel on hwy 17 around 9:30 am. We will depart to Savannah at 10:00 promptly. This will be a leisurely trip so you can leave your leathers at home. In fact I will be riding my cruiser. When we make it to Savannah will go downtown to eat for lunch. (Anybody got any ideas for a good lunch place downtown?) After that we are meeting a few local Savannah guy's to take us on a ride for a couple of hours. Then around 3:30 to 4:00 we will mount up and take um to the house. So what do you think? We will talk about the details on the next Sunday and future Sunday rides to taylor the plans. If you have any suggestions, let's here them.
...added this to the calendar...
Great idea, it's been a while since I've been to Savannah, although I probably won't be able to make this trip.

What is that talk about riding your cruiser? I was under the impression that we are riding like normal with the guys from Savannah I been talking to. Nothing to crazy but brisk, I will email the guy and find out what kind of riding we can expect.
That sux....I have to work the odd days for the month of May. The Fire Dept. schedule sux azz. Hopefully I can make the next local trip. I will be at the tree this coming Sunday (24th APR) for sure though. I have family in Savannah and lived there briefly. If you like seafood I know a great place off 95 and 204 (Abercorn) exit called the shellhouse. Have fun. See you at the Tree this sunday.....

You know the warrior will do a brisk pace? I'm sure it will be a ride at a sane pace, so I will be able to keep up. I'll just be at the back of the pack. I am probably going to try and get my wife to join us. Plus, why would I ride a sport bike on a 4 hour plus ride, when I have a cruiser? What I really need is a FJR 1300 like Mike's, then I would have the best of both worlds. Just think a comfortable wheelie monster machine with saddle bags. I knew I should have stayed from his bike.

So what kind of riding can be expected from this Savanah trip? Do we leave the curb monkeys at home and strap on the full leathers?

I have been talking to a guy down in Savannah and he says that they do a brisk ride. I would have to say they are not going to ride any harder than we normally do so I wouldn't wear leathers. Next thing being a 1.5 hour ride each way, plan on eating lunch there and probably being 80-85 degrees. Use your own judgement.

Alright guy's dont say that we didn't tell you about the trip. I know it's going to be a lot of fun. Besides, dont you want to do something other than burning up the same roads you were on last Sunday and the Sunday before?

We all had a huge blast man! We rode downtown, hung out and ate at some pizza joint where a lot of bikers hang out. After that we caught up with a local sportbiker who showed us around town and we hit a few curves. Then we took the back way to Roebling Road track. We meet Kenny, Matt, and Jason up there. They were just there hanging out for the day after track day. Now along the way you know there had to be several races. I'm just making one statement. My wife said that Chris got his ass handed to him several times by me. Chris was on Steves Warrior and I was on mine. Everyone swithed bike along the ride at least twice with someone else, which was pretty fun. It was a very fun day to say the least. I cant wait for the next one. Myrtle Beach look out.
