OK, as some of you may have seen at the track my bike is in need of a new chain. Any suggestions on what brands to look for and which ones to avoid?
Thanks!
DID and AFAM. You can usually find kits consisting of the chain and both sprockets. While at it, you might think about changing your gearing, and getting a lighter (520) chain.

If I plan on changing the gearing what kind of spockets should I be looking for? I hear different stories on steel vs aluminum vs ..... I would like something that is going to last if properly maintained.
Of course my bike felt like it was geared good for Roebling. I would come out of 9 redlining 4th, shift and be just about to redline 5th before braking for turn 1.
Steel, hands down, or possibly an aluminum carrier with steel teeth. It does sound like it's geared pretty well.

of course that was just for 1 track and I will have to wait a little bit before trying another one. I will be working on getting a little more power out of her.

for the 500? that thing comes with a 520 you can go on ebay i have bought the whole kit for 150 before make sure you gt a rivet link and not the clip style but that thing wont make enough power to really where a vortex rear out any time soon especially if you change gearing often as for the chain I run a 520rxo but i wouldn't spend that much on a chain it is made do 1000cc and up bikes
Here Chris, I found these, figured they were yours:

Not sure if this link will work from the phone or not but this is one that I have found. I'm also not sure if it is the rivet style or master link. It would change my gearing to +1 in the rear which isn't too bad. And your thoughts?

I am sorry guys I didn’t know that proper punctuation and grammar were part of the grade. Next time, I will try harder for you. So what is the reward for first place? Can I get a dozen of Krispy Kreme glazed donuts? I prefer them hot and fresh, so you may need to go to their store on Savannah Hwy. They are so good. If I come in second can I get a honey bun and chocolate milk, or maybe even an ice cream from the Marble Slab. Hope fully there are no run on sentences in this post, I would hate to get sent to the principal’s office for a paddling.

check out Sidewinder from Krause Racing. They make great chains. I have one (12k lb) on the busa along with a tri-metal sproket on the back and a tool steel hardend front sprocket. Very little stretching even after 8k miles. Worth a look. http://sidewindersprockets.com/

So, do I want to avoid all o-ring types or just the d.i.d kind? And what is d.i.d?

it is a brand
i ran one on my 750 and never had an issue
i have an rk on my r1 the rxo and have gotten over 9000 miles on it with no issues i will be replacing it this week with the same setup
usually the rear sprockets wear out first when using aluminum
there is no reason for you to use aluminum unless you just want to

I've found a set on ebay that gives me the +1 in the rear. Only thing, it doesn't state if its steel, aluminum, or paper or if it is riveted or a master link. Main thing for me is the chain, it's rusted and just needs to be replaced. I guess I need to ask the seller a couple questions.
Also, Does anyone have a rivet tool I can borrow when I do get it?

Chris, I just received my new chain today but the arses didn't include the rear sprocket. I'm gonna be heading out of town tomorrow for a week but maybe next week I can get your rivet tool from you to do a little switch? Thanks again!

I'll get in touch when I get back in town. I don't want to hold onto the rivet tool for too long, you may need it while I'm gone.
