I may not be popular for saying this, but with your old job expiring, and your new one just around the corner, now might not be the best time to look for speed.

Your right, your not popular! :smilebig:

I can't blame him for wanting to have a little fun before he goes to the desert. But I would recommend being careful.

Jason 41, I'm a noobie to this forum but was reccomended by kenny from east coast powersports in Summerville (apparently races for team aprilia in motogt) after he hooked me up with a track suit. I've got maybe six people who have track experience, a rig, and some pretty bikes. They were looking to go to Jennings, and wanted more info. I would like to talk to you about this, and can be reached at 516-302-3722

Welcome to the forum, JIbuellfighter. A bunch of us love to ride the track. Set a date and I'm sure a couple of us will commit.

No
And their tech inspection does not exist.

I was about to get upsetted! I didn't want to have to rig up a turkey pan on the bottom of the bike. I don't mind the other safety wire stuff, just don't wanna ruin the appearance of the safety cone!

Turbo storm
04-21-2009, 07:55 AM
I know someone who ran there recently with no safety wireing, and with anti-freeze. The mirriors were off, and the lights were taped....that was it. He eventually went to track bodywork, but I would have to agree with Greg's statement...no tech inspection.

I got the basics done, so I think I'm covered. Let's load them up and go!

Dan and Shawn you guys riding down with me?

the_MAC
04-21-2009, 10:50 AM
other than removing mirrors/taping lenses, there are NO tech requirements at jennings. you don't have to safety wire anything, plenty of people ride with glycol in their bikes, and some don't even take their kickstand off...

There's a big, fat FAQ thread stickied right in this forum that people still fail to read

That really depends on what you and Shawn want to do. I got the RV so I was thinking about leaving Saturday afternoon, spending the night, and heading home on Sunday after we wear ourselves out. But I'm flexible so call me.

i'll be going down on saturday afternoon, probably camping out at the track and doing some snipe hunting, and then driving home sunday after the track day. i might have some extra room for another bike if anyone needs it, so let me know...

P.M. sent sir. Commence stalking. Report back any progress. I will commence a flanking maneuver to coinside with your stalking. Wth the attack coming from two seperate fronts, we may be able to gain control of this giant, and use him to our advantage.

Commander Crawford OUT!

I plan on leaving the house bout 1:30 then swinging by Dan's pad and picking him up. Shawn? Who knows!

Thanks for posting Scott. Judging by the pics, I think it was the forward part of your exhaust the scraped giving you the "OH SHIT!" moment.
I need to learn some "showtime" moves for the cameraman.

Scootimus
04-27-2009, 12:37 PM
That's kinda what I was thinking. I guess I just need to be more on the gas to relieve the front end.

Hurry up and get with Jason before he leaves. I've heard he knows all about "Showtime"

Yeah, I don't know how many times I kept telling myself to get the hell off the bike. After looking at the pics my form looks like shit. Oh well, but more to work and learn on.

Mac, my form didn't look that bad at Roebling did it?

Turbo storm
04-27-2009, 04:10 PM
After Mac said something to you, your form was better than this weekend. At RRR we had a better vantage point to see something like that. I couldn't see your body position too well from the front strech.:D

But still. 1:37 at Jennings on a 500 ninja is not bad. You heard the track marshal "Dan" tell us anywhere under 1:40 is good for a first timer there. 1:30 and better is expert class. 2 more seconds shaved off, and I'm there.

Looking at you avatar pic reminds me of a guy at RRR I shot the last time I was there. He eventually pushed the bike down far enough that it 'gracefully' lowsided :crap:

Well at RRR I was dragging foot pegs then Mac gave me a few pointers. Of course I got new rear sets so it would be less likely to do that again. This time it was the exhaust pipe that scared the shit out of me. I guess I just didn't have my head in the game this time.

At least I did lap the other 500 out there every session and a few others while I was at it.

Mike
04-27-2009, 08:22 PM
Don't get me wrong, I'm not putting you down, just saying that you're damn close to the bike's lean limit, and by the sound of it, had you been a little hotter into that corner that you scraped the pipe on, or had a little less track to work with, you would've bit it; time to get off the bike, s'all.

The guy I shot crashing could've had a much better, and longer day had someone riding behind him simply told him as much. 1st session, he pushed a little, 2nd session, some more. I think it was by the 3rd session that he simply leveraged the bike off its tires, all the while leaning away from the corner. I'll try to dig up the sequence so you can see exactly what I mean.

Dont worry Mike, no offense taken. I thank my lucky stars that I didn't go down when the bike lifted off the ground. I think it happened in the 2nd or 3 session and from there on it was in my head more than what I needed to do to correct it. I also seemed to notice it right after I started turning and I didn't want to try and adjust too much while already leaned over. I figured that would upset the bike. Just gonna have to make sure I do it right the next time.

Naw you'll be fine. At least you LISTEN. Some dont listen too well when you try to tell them that they are leaning the bike (rob v.)too much... say just to drag your knee...that's not fast..Running those times second time out is great!!!

I got the knee down at RRR and wore out my knee pucks. At the end of the day I said shit I need to not do that so much, that's just more the track day costs me.

I'm open to any criticism, help, advice, butt chewing any of you guys can give.
