Ok, so I finally had the money to go to a local bar for just a little bit last night.

I walked in and sat at the bar and then I asked the Bartender how much a pitcher of Bud Light was, $8.46. I was game since I planned on drinking at least 3 beers.

But then she asks me who else was drinking it with me. The 3 of us, me, myself, and I. She says, "You can't do that in the State of NC." WTF? Says who, it's a law she says. Uh whatever.

So the guy sitting next to me says he'd split it with me and hands me $2. Sure sounds good.

Then she says, are you staying at the bar? I said, Where else would I be going? GD! Well you might get it and walk off with it. Aren't you going to run my credit card for a tab?

I think I was being bull shitted, but I'm not sure. Because 4 pints there would have been like $11 or $12.

Anyone know anything about a state law in NC regarding pitchers?

Mike

Taken from NC Alcobolic Beverage Control (http://reports.ncabc.state.nc.us/uploads/resources/f1c7a6b7373d4d56875c6d0b66c5f7f1.pdf)

Q: Can a bartender sell more than one drink to a customer at a time?
A: NO. ABC Rule 2S.0232 (3) states, “an on‐premi se permittee or his agent shall not sell more than

single patron.” NOTE: This rule does not prohibi t a person from purchasing a round of drinks for
multiple persons.

Q: Can my business sell a bucket of beer to just one person?
A: NO. Buckets of beer are treated the same as a “pitcher” of beer and can only be sold to more
than one person.

Q: Is a shot and a beer (boilermaker) considered one drink?
A: YES. For the purpose of this rule, a boilerma ker is considered one drink and may be sold to a
single patron.

Q: Is a pitcher of margaritas considered one drin k or more than one drink?
A: NO. For the purpose of the regulation, any dr ink considered a “pitcher” is considered more than
one drink and must be sold to more than a single p atron.

Q: What is considered a single drink?
A: ABC Rule 2S.232 (c), states, “a “drink” contai ns the amount of alcoholic beverages usually and
customarily served to a single patron as a single serving by the permittee.”

Damn it! Thanks. I Googled and didn't find much, guess my search words were wrong.

So I shall request as follows:
Excuse me Bartender, I would like a large vessel containing at a minimum 64oz of Bud Light and 1 straw, thank you :D

Regarding the last question and answer, I routinely drink more than one pitcher by myself.
