I wonder how much $$$$$$ was wasted on this little trip? It's okay he can print as much as he needs.

I thought this was going to be a post on MJ's #23 new Florida crib. I want to see the plans.

All that money...I wish the story was on MJ and his crib. This country going down the crapper and the prez treats AF1 as a joy ride machine. Effn DC.

Ok, it is 3,979 miles from DC to Copenhagen (direct, so this is the SHORTEST distance)
A 747 generally cruises @ 555 mph, and here is fuel consumption for a comercial 747 (you know AF1 may be a little different, and I would assume less efficient)

(Fuel burn (planning) 747-200s or 747-300s...
account for 1,000 kg (2,200 lbs) for the taxi-out for takeoff...
Assuming a heavy aircraft at 377,000 kg (833,000 lbs) takeoff weight, it will burn some 15,000 kg (33,000 lbs) to initial cruise level FL290 or 310...
First hours of cruise, expect some 13,000 kg (28,000 lbs) FF per hour...
As the plane gets lighter, at the end of cruise, maybe at FL370 or 390, the FF will decrease to under 10,000 kg (21,000 kg) per hour...
Descent, approach, landing, generally burn 3,000 kg (6,000 lbs) total...
Taxi-in will be anywhere from 500 to 1000 kg (1,000 to 2,000 lbs

Don't forget the MIB. I'm sure they don't work for free.

well, peanuts as compared to the cost of operating the aircraft for a transatlantic round trip for a personal bid. ever heard of video conference?

"Mrs. Obama had gone to Copenhagen ahead of her husband and had lobbied hard for the Summer Games to be brought to her hometown and his adopted hometown."

One thing I thought of about this trip, 1st lady and president went seperately. I'm guessing 1st lady did not fly commercial, so she either took Air Force 2 or a large learjet. Factor all this into the cost figures. Wow that's alot of money.

As if every other president hadn't done this, or wasted massive amounts of money on seemingly pointless endeavors. I remember seeing a breakdown of one of Bush's trips to the middle east a year or two ago. The resources expended were mind blowing, in the millions.

Very true Mike. It's not just the current President that's at fault. It's been just about all of them since air travel was available to them. It just hurts more now since our country is recessed. I'm sure the next president will do it too.:wall:

...doesn't mean it's right. I'm still waiting on when this adminstration will be held accountable for anything done in the past 10 months.

...doesn't mean it's right.

Didn't say, suggest, imply, insinuate that it was. The system is broken. I hate the game, not the player.

Having said that, President or movie star, having an entourage is expensive. What costs you and me, say, a few hundred to take a trip to Europe costs them tens of thousands, or more.

AP - President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday in a stunning decision designed to encourage his initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and stress diplomacy and cooperation rather than unilateralism.

The peace prize was created partly to encourage ongoing peace efforts but Obama's efforts are at far earlier stages than past winners'. The Nobel committee acknowledged that they may not bear fruit at all.

so he got it for not doing anything but for what he says he might try to do but may not end up doing

Where was all this hate when Bush was ignoring warnings of Al Qaeda activity, shredding our Constitution, sending a generation of our young out to get maimed and killed, driving the country past the brink of financial collapse?

And now what, there's a black Democrat as President, and it's ok to crack racist jokes because it's all his fault, or because he's unable to overcome a system that took decades if not centuries to become this corrupted, overnight? As deep of a shithole that we're in thanks to Bush and Co., no one on the planet could possibly dig us out quickly. I just hope that this new guy and his administration will get us far enough up to see the rim.

I think the peace prize was little much this early in the game.

hey, i hated the actions of the last president.... and i hate the actions of this one... has nothing to do with race...

I don't ever remember President Bush ignoring warnings of Al Qaeda activity. I thought that was always President Cliton turning his head when things were going on. Maybe I am wrong. As good as I can remember there was a lot of hate for President Bush when he was in office. Heck do you not remember turning on the TV or looking in the new papers and seeing all the hate towards him? I do!
Don't get me wrong for a long time now every single President that we have had has scewed this country up more and more.
One thing I do get tired of see and hearing is people playing this damn race card! Poor President Barack Hussein Obama...mmm...mmm...mmm.
Just cause he is a black man no one can open their mouth and say anything. If we do we are a RACIST. If we do don't agree with what he is doing RACIST. All those that go to the town meeting and to the Tea Parties are all RACIST cause we won't stand behind the black president. GIVE ME A FREAKING BREAK!!!!
Buy hey hold on!!! It's not President Barack Hussein Obama's fault that he keeps telling them to print more money over and over.
Maybe I should just stop right now before I get call a RACIST or worst maybe get censored.

Alright Steve, explain how this is not racist, or at least not in very poor taste.

(AP) Obama, who won the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday, is considering a request from McChrystal for up to 40,000 more troops to boost the 65,000 who are already in the country. Other NATO countries have a further 40,000 here. Obama is also debating whether to shift the focus to more missile strikes and special operations raids against al-Qaida in Pakistan, a nuclear-armed country where the terrorist movement's leadership is believed to be hiding.

Does this go in hand with this

ease tensions with the Muslim world and stress diplomacy and cooperation rather than unilateralism.

Mike

If "considering" turns to "boosting", then not very well, but until that happens...

:popcorn:man, you guys are rather intelligent! obama and his supporters will always have the "race" card to play. it's a shame. come on man, why do i have to pay for "your" ancestors misfortunes? war never solved anything but naziism, SLAVERY, socialism... and the nobel peace prize... probably added that in to the stimulus package.

Alright Steve, explain how this is not racist, or at least not in very poor taste.
It's got nothing to do with being a racist. How many other people (whites included) who dress that way. Big tasteless jewelry ,pants down to their asses ect ect. Just what peace act has he done to deserve the NPP? I'd like to see something good come out of term. So far just talk and travel at the expense of the American people.
