View Full Version : Hey KWS , ZX-6R Kit ECU OR PC Ignition Module?

I didn't see a tech section here so I didn't know where to post this question .....
I have an 05 ZX-6R with a PCIII USB that Kevin mapped.
I want to ADD either the Kawasaki Race ECU/Ignition module OR the
PC Ignition module .... do you guys have any experience with adding either of these to a ZX-6R? I would have you guys doing the tuning and was just wondering if you have seen a Kit ECU or the PC ignition module on a ZX-6R yet.
Im a little confused about the Kawi Kit ECU , any input you have will be appreciated.

uhh the 05 has dual injectors and it sounds like your going twards the quickshifter.. if you do the ignition modual then it will work, however in order to get the most bang out of the bike you have to either buy 2 pc3's {as per what i have heard} or wait for PC to figure out the new dual fuel injector problem. I have no experience with the kit ecu,

No on 2 PC's
Kit ECU is cool, but really expensive and takes a considerable investment in Dyno time.
and the only reason to buy the ignition module is if you want to run a quick shifter.

I was originally going to buy a quick shifter until I realized I needed to buy the PC ignition module as well in order for it to work.
I don't have SOLID info on the Kit ECU , but it seems as tohugh if you buy just the ECU ( $4-500 ) you can just plug and play without tuning it and it is good for as much as 8hp.
It supposedly eliminates the timing retardation thats on the stock ECU.
On the other hand , If I got the PC ignition Module , I can do virtually the same thing and run a quickshifter , right?
My bike is an 05 ZX-6R with an Akra slip on ( I know I should have went full system but I was on a budget due to full suspension work being done at the same time along with other mods) BMC Race air filter, and a PCIII USB that Kevin custom mapped.
The bike made just over 115 HP on your Dyno on 93 Oct Pump gas, and I know it is capable of 120+ without engine work ....... How do I get there?! haha
Advance the timing? Cut the catalitic converter out of the stock headers and remap the bike on U4?
All of the above? Help!

Size matters Greg , no matter what you have been told .... size does matter. :---)
Allright man. kevin is the man. want to say that first. but when it comes to kawi's i know how to make hp... 1st talk to burns at kws and ask them if Ivans makes a TRE for the zx636. I am not building a hp monster out of my zx6 however if i was i would go micron full serpent. then get the TRE the bmc will help also. uhhh MR9 is alittle more but makes big hp on zx's. You WILL break 120 on mr9. when you get your TRE do not move the subthrotle position sensor. it is conected to the throtlebodies and cost $1200 to replace. you need the ignition module to cut the bike off for 60 mili seconds to shift without the clutch. the tre will handle the timing retardation if the zx has it... Im not so sure if the zx6 has it's timing retarted... they only did that so the ten wouldnt break 189mph... i am sure the 6 will not do anything close to that...

I think I might break 120 just by switching to U4 , but would love to break 120 on pump gas by just adding an ignition module ......... Im not looking to build a HP monster either but every bit helps from turn 9 to turn one at Roebling for example.

One other question for KWS guru's ......... my bike is mapped on 93 oct pump gas so which VP would giveme the best gains by just pouring it in?
U4? MR9? Or would I have to have my bike re mapped if I used either?

TRE does not "make Hp" and there is none for a ZX-6R
The you will never get close to the tps sensor when putting on any of this stuff.....unless you do it with a shotgun.

Yea, I toped out the old honda on that strait with a way's to go. would love to run down that on the 1000 but that thing would scare the shit out of me in turns.
