Any good local roads around Cola? I picked up a street bike recently but really have no desire to ride around town.

Yeah there is. You have to go out around winnsboro, chester and newberry and there is alot of great riding. I am working on getting a streetbike right now so maybe I can do a ride here in the near future. The best easy ride is to go out left highway 217 ( monticello road ) off I-20, and turn right on highway 269. This is alot of fun but i would take a map because there are several ways you can go once on 269. There is a state boat ramp out there and the road to get to it is like a track. cambered turns and all but just make sure there are no smokies chilling at the end by the water first. I will call a buddy and see if he knows the best way to go but that would be a start. watch out for deer though!!! The dyno thing is probably gonna lead you to charleston or charlotte. I can't refer you to the people in columbia that have a dyno because I would not go there myself. Good luck

Thanks for the tips.

I have no interest in hauling ass on public roads, there's tracks for going fast. I'm more than content with posted speed limits, I just don't want to ride around in city traffic.

Deal's Gap is a great area. Caesar's Head is also pretty nice. Oh but I think I may define "near" differently. :D

I will likely make it out that way before it gets too cold. I'm more curious about stuff I can easily do if I only have a couple-three hours to kill.

stay in the city

?? That's exactly what I'm trying to avoid.

Florence has miles of crazy back roads, with nobody on them except a deer or two.

sorry man. didn't mean for you to take it the wrong way. newberry area has some beautiful roads around it. north of columbia south of chester has some nice ones too. hell just grab a map, study a bit the night before and take off in the morning. i've got maps that i take with me and highlight the roads that i think are nice. before you know it, you'll have a good loop planned out to take your buds on next time. but, like bhudson says, if you got a nice long day with nothing to do, head to the mountains for great riding.:yeah:

Actually, I pray to God everyday and Christians aren't perfect, we are forgiven. Maybe you should look into it and you might not be such a dick.:wave:

Be very careful up a round winnsboro, chester and the lake. The locals are tired of us riding around there and they are showing it. Lake rd for sure. I only go down that road to pay my respects where Mike was killed and I get out of there.

There is alot of good riding out there though... Just becareful. I am going to be getting my aprilia dressed up with lights soon so maybe I can join you guys on some rides.

I'm never encountered an issue on any of the roads in the Winnsboro, Chester area. I'm very fond of Highway #34 out of Winnsboro over to Newberry. If you make the loops from Rideway to Chester then left to Newberry it's a nice ride. Not much traffic and only the occasional deer.

Not for nothing but if you tear ass around the county acting and driving like an ass don't be surprised if anger people and you and others will suffer their wrath. I'm not one to go blasting up the road at warp speed. I've done that on the track and that's the only safe place to do that foolishness.

In the last 28 years, I've logged more than 250 thousand miles in every every state in the union but Alaska and Hawaii and I can without a doubt tell you the times I've encountered issues can be counted on a single hand. If you treat people with respect more often than not they'll reciprocate. Act like an ass and you get what you give.

I make the ride up #321 to Rock Hill at least once a week and stop at country stores along the route and never had anyone refuse to serve me or tell to leave. Not that it hasn't happened but if you travel the roads of the US long enough your bound to face hostility at some point.

In Winnsboro there is a granite house just off Highway #34. Ive stopped and talked with the owner and toured the grounds and they don't know me from Adam. But I approached them with respect and they were more than happy to show me around.

It's all in how you treat people......
that's my thought on it anyway

I think I know you... respect or no respect if you ride some of those rodes just be aware that other people have ruined it for the people that ride for the enjoyment.
