Wanted to do this for a while so here we go. I am trying to get people involved with CJ's in Columbia and want them to be able find what they need. If they are in another CJ's town then they will know they can go to the forum and get the answers they need. I have worked at most of the shops in Columbia over the last 14 years and know alot of people that are in the bike business here. I am going to keep my opinions out of this unless needed, but I would like to know what our CJ's members think of the shops in Columbia. Say what you want but understand if its out of line then I will delete it.

Here we go...

I've been in Columbia for a couple years now. I do all the work myself on the bike so I don't have any opinion on shops work.

Cyclegear is great to deal with for parts/accessories... Dealers that are here charge the usual dealer prices for their stuff. I stay away unless I am in a pinch. I shop online for everything.

The only bike I bought down here so far has been through ECPS. :)

Orangeburg is where I take my dirtbike and greg has always done a great job. Jay is good people too.

Cycle gear in Columbia has been doing a great job too. Jeremy races and he is really helpful. The entire staff there is good and they point you in the right direction.

Moto Gizmo is my pick for a local shop up here. Mark is really good with the bikes and he knows his stuff.

I did get a chance to venture into ECPS, and that is a awesome dealership. Bikes, 4 wheelers, watercraft, and guns. WOW!!! I wish we had one up here.

The shop is right behind the Richland County Police Dept in the northeast. Mark Gillotte is the owner and he is the bomb. I think it's called the Alta Vista business park.

Any of these guys sell safety wire? I've been to the Honda dealer and the Suzuki dealer on two notch and neither had it.

Go to cycle gear. I just bought some. they are on St Andrews Rd. Or hell come by my house and I will help you. I have tons, plus a few set of the plyers.

I'll check 'em out, thanks! I rolled the bike inside the house, it was easier than swapping water>antifreeze>water so I can't exactly bring it over. Appreciate the offer though. I'll take a rain check for a potential upcoming wrenching session though. :D

I was there Tuesday and they had two 1lb spools on the shelf. There was nothing smaller. Maybe they have more of the smaller packages hiding somewhere.

Speaking of bleeding brakes.... I have to do that on my busa too... Thinking about forking over some cash for a phoenix reverse bleeder. Although getting a cheapy bleeder from Harbor Freight may be cost friendly. :D

The cheapy one will do fine. Hell I use a beer can and a vent hose you get with a battery. As for the Honda it has that all in one system and its just tedious. I have no problem helping and it really works good with two people. Don't worry about that because we can do that at the track.
