View Full Version : Talladega GPR track day this Sunday
There's a track day being offered at Talladega GPR this Sunday.
http://www.tgprace.com/index.html
$140 for the day
The good stuff:
- 20 maximum riders in the expert group (a few slots are left open)
- 15 max in intermediate (AFAIK it's sold out)
- 15 max in novice (a couple of spots left)
- food, water, and Gatorade are included in the cost (so basically the $140 is all-inclusive on the track)
The bad stuff:
- it's 405 miles from Charleston
I'm very seriously considering going as the event photographer, and while I might ride to the event, I'd prefer to take my truck, which means more money for gas, which means that I would really like to find a person or two to split the gas costs with me (I have room for two bikes in the truck, and three to four adults in the cab of my Titan). To sweeten the deal for whoever decides to go with me, I would provide up to 20 full size pics free of charge. I might even be willing to front the track fees on your word.
Let me know ASAP.

I know none of you from here came, but maybe you're curious about the pics I took, so I'll have them up later today.
===================
I'm chewing through the nearly 2000 pictures right now. I've separated the wheat from the chaff, and will have the pic gallery up no later than this evening (hopefully sooner).
Here's one good pic (about average quality for the day). It's been slightly tweaked, and cropped from the original:

Here's how the same pic will appear in the gallery when it's done (small, no tweaking, heavily compressed...):

for the people that don't know Tally will shut down in august and they are going to change the track around some because the road is being widened, so if you want to do the "OLD" Talladega GP you need to do it fast (it's a fun little track , very tight ,lots of grip)
what did you think of the track mike?
The track itself seemed alright, although since I didn't ride it, I can't give you that perspective.
The track day ran by STR, though, was a class act. Given the opportunity, I'd like to join the next one they have :wtg: :wtg:

...and it's a solid 6-7 hours from here. That's the one thing that I don't like about the place, they didn't build it closer :crap:
Oh yeah, the pics are here:

Thanks, but I already posted up on those sites, since those were the folks that actually made up the trackday. I hope to sell some pics, because if I don't, I won't even cover my $160 fuel bill for the trip :crap:
I had my first paying customer, yaaay!
Here's a slightly tweaked pic of him. I have to admit that this is a pretty sharp copy, and on the above-average end of the scale... easily good for a 24 X 36 print.
