View Full Version : Bike Night in Columbia

Wondering if there is any interest. I would also like to see if there is a night that everyone can agree on. There are alot of bars up here that could use the business. I know a few people at the Hooters in Harbison and I have wired a bunch of sound systems in bars throughout Columbia. Kelly's in the Vista would be my pick and I could make it happen. There are also a few shops that do nothing like this around here, and we might be able to get them involved or I can do it with Carolina Moto. We could have a huge bash for the kickoff and then do it weekly from there. It would not take much to make this a good turnout.

Maybe we could even have the big kickoff Bike Night and bring in some of our Charleston VIP CJ's. let me know what you think and we will go from there.

I can probably even get a Limo from work and have a driver drive us to our destination if you guys come up here for this.

:pimp:

I'm really surprised there isn't a huge bike scene in Cola :wtf:

I've been thinking about this myself. Personally I'd rather ride than sit around and talk about my bike but it could be a good way to meet folks and get some rides together.

There was but a few people ruined it a few years back and it really f'ed it up. I want to bring it back and now that I have more time I think its time. Mike You, Kenny, Dan, Scott, shawn, dave, ashley, even chip and kevin would be the Vip's. Everyone would need to bring info about what they bring to the table and the kickoff night would be a blast. My uncle owns a travel agency up here so I would work something out for getting everyone rooms really cheap. This could be a huge deal. We could do it right after everyone gets back from Daytona for a kickoff party. Then after that have a weekly thing where I can get some shops involved and talk about rides and track days and the whole nine yards. I think it would work so I am going to start asking some questions and see what I can come up with. anyone has any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

I don't want to leave anyone from Charleston out so you all would all be Vip's.

I would be interested in kicking tires at a Cola bike nite. I love all aspects of riding, track, street, customizing, bench racing. Whatever, its all good. Make it somewhere in the NE... :D

Mike, I found that odd too when I first moved here. There are TONS of what I call "Urban Sportbikes".. :) Lots of 240 kits, extended swingarms, bling... etc. but I have never really seen a Bike Night. I think there was one at Hooters on Two Knotch but it never really seemed popular. There are TONS of sportbikes around here.

Well lets change it. You have my total support and I know all the shops well. I am thinking its gonna be the Vista for a kickoff and maybe the first few. I got a spot where we can hang out play Moto Gp on the big screen and kinda be in our own enviroment. I got to work out a few details but I think this is going to happen. Hang tight.

I definitely wouldn't mind riding up for a bike night in cola.

Mike

Yep, I'd go... only catch is that I work until 8PM, so I'd either have to cut out early, or have it on a weekend when I'm not already booked.

Ok. I have a spot called The Loose Cockaboose. I know the owners really well and they are a trip. I have wired alot of there sound system and the place is really fun. They will let us do the kickoff night there and maybe even continue to do a Bike night there.
There is also a long dead end road that leads to this place. Not saying we will but just in case there is plenty of wheelie space and if any of the stunters wanna come we can do that. We need to come up with a date that all this can happen. They are booked up a good bit in march and we can go into april if we need to. I need about a month to get some shops involved and get it out there so this could work.
I need to know when all you racers from Charleston will be home and available to do this as well. This is right off I-77 near I-26. You can almost hit golf balls to the USC stadium so it is really close to the USC stadium.
I just got off the phone with the owner Kelly who is a close friend and she is all for it. Lets come up with a date and I will get things rolling. I also need to know how many of you guys from charleston would lilke to come up because there are two hotels really close and my house is not far. I can probably hold at least 6 of you at my house if you don't mind sleeping on couches and on the floor. I will make sure my kids and hopefully my wife go to charleston for the weekend. lets get this rolling and maybe we can make something out of this for the columbia guys.
Do you want to get the SCRiders involved or just keep this a CJ thing? I would rather keep it to us but with the road that's out front and how open it is, this place can hold some poeple. they also have a huge stage in the back for bands so this is a must. We need to find a great band for the kickoff night.
I will take care of the PR and getting the flyers made but we need to all come to agreement first on the date and how big we are gonna make it. lets make this happen guys and gals!!!!

I need to to come up with the date first!!!!!

It all sounds interesting. The more time you have to prep and advertise, the more successful it's likely to be. Make no mistake, it can be a lot of work, just talk to Kenny about the work he's put in, just to have it implode for one reason or another.

As far as the other forum goes... meh...

I have alot of experience in this area so just make sure you are here. I know its gonna be crazy difficult but I will deal with that. I just want to make this first one rock!!! Lets come up with a date that everyone is here. I also gotta let my wife know so she can plan to be away from the house.

All sounds good. FWIW. Pick a date and roll with it.. From my experience no matter what date you plan, your not going to get everyone.

As for who to invite. Its up to you, your the guy going out of his way to do it. Whats your vision for this?

Jeff is right, just pick a date and roll with it! If you wait on this group to decide, it will never happen.

Bump... Figure the weathers breaking now and the weather is getting alot nicer. I know Shaun, you've had quite the change of job scenery over the last couple months too. You thinking of still doing this? I am guessing to still plan it, it would be the end of the month now even beginning of next. Let me know if you need some help..

Just joined the forum but I've been doing track days with Kenny since last season. I have some good friends who are in an awesome band. The name is Lefty at The Washout. They're a rock reggae band very similar to The Movement. Once you guys come up with a definite date, I can ask them to do a show for the first bike night as long as its ok with everyone. Just let me know.

alright just got off the phone with the bar manager and we are on. Let's go for April the 27th (tuesday). I think we should show up around 7-7:30 and just go from there. The place is right near the stadium and fair grounds. The Loose Cockaboose. Take a right or left off of bluff rd onto stadium rd. Go to the end of the roadand its on the left. There is a long straight away to get to the bar so be on your best behavior until we establish how the scene is please. The bar is cool and has all kinds of TV's. This is not the big blowout just a cool place for us to go and see if we like it.

let me know wachtathunk

Damn man, is your bike lowered or suspension shot? Hopefully you didn't do any damage to the internals and it's also a good thing you didn't go down from coating the rear tire.
