...at least for a little more than I was told originally.

Late last week, I got moved--voluntold--from my crew (that would be rotating back to Charleston in July) to a day staff position, and that means I have to be up here in Norfolk for the entire project. We are planning to be done in six months which means it'll probably end up being closer to nine.

It's a double-edged sword. This job is leaps and bounds better than being on crew--I work 6am-2pm M-F instead of rotating 13-hour day/night shifts. I get an air-conditioned desk job instead of working on the submarine. And I'll get paid more travel $ which I can't complain about. But I'm still away until late August/September now and I haven't told Karen yet--she's still bummed about me leaving in the first place. At least I'll be able to run down on the weekends. When we left Pearl Harbor, we really put the idea of me deploying out of our heads. I dunno how she's going to take it so I'm coming home this weekend to break the news. *sigh*

And to top it off...I won't be able to get my CJ fix every Tuesday night! :depress:

I miss you guys already. *wince* Even Travis. :lmao:

Hey man, gotta do whatcha gotta do. Best thing to do is focus on all the positives-which there seems to be a good bit of, and make the most of it! :D Plus at least you get to come down on a few weekends which i'm sure is tons better than being deployed somewhere or even being farther across country.

You get to take the bike up too?

Well you know it could be worse. Good to see you got a decent spot for next few months, sucks it maybe be longer. She should know how the Navy is by now and understand.

Might see you at VIR, then? :D

While there you might as well color in the north-eastern part of that map you have ;)

Ummm doesn't the military have a don't ask don't tell policy? well this post comes off kinda Ghey!:stick:

Atleast your not stuck under water with no communication. You do have the opportunity to come home on the weekends and she can even go up there for a little vacation. Good luck with your little talk and when she kicks you out this weekend give me a shout, we can go riding! :alright:

Yep, the Connie is all I have up here. She needs a bath bad! (dirty girl...mmm) :D

Mike, VIR is a possibility! I hear they aren't cheap but I'd love to ride it. I also have a Maine trip in mind. Cabot Trail maybe.

Scott, I'll bring my sleeping bag.

And somebody please explain to Mike the difference between a wink and wince...

You need to go eat at Mongolian Barbeque on Military Highway.

Don't worry, I got something that will make you flinch!

And were you winking at us and wincing at Travis or is it the other way around?
