Thanks for the good wishes. I won't be happy with anything less than a top 5. I'm really shooting for a top 3. If I get my normal good start, I should be able to put my head down, and stay in front.

Unfortunately I was not there yesterday to witness Kenny and Trey slaughter the field in their solo 20 race. Don't want to steal their thunder but you can guess what two guys finished 1 and 2 with that statement.
I went out in my superbike race and jumped into the lead off the line..lost a spot going into 1. Held 2nd for a short while, and then got passed by another. Then another snuck past me and put me in fourth. I was determined to get a podium, so I did what I had to do, and passed him back soon after. He never got around me, but he hung with me to the end. Unfortunately, the race was red flagged due to a guy going off in turn 9...all the way to the trees and tires. I ended up with 3rd place.
Last race of the day, I was gridded up on the inside of row 2. The flag dropped, and the guy on pole position stood the bike in a 12 o' clock! The bike turned to the left (towards the middle of the track) and fell on it's side. One of the riders behind me came flying past my left side, and t-boned into the down bike. His bike was flipping in the air just above my head. I kept my head down and stayed in the gas. The race was immediately red flagged for 20 minutes or so. Upon taking the grid again, I had a clear shot to turn 1. The experts were gridded just ahead of us novices. When the flag dropped, I had a nice lil wheelie that rode all the way thru 1st gear. I shot right in the lead. I caught the tail of the experts in turn 1. (a few were kinda slow) A few of the other amateur (yellow plates) got past me in the hold up. I past them all except for 1 going into turn 3...so I thought. There was one guy about 5 bike lengths ahead of me that I thought was an amateur, but he was a white plate (expert). He had a yellow tail section that looked like yellow # plates. I ended up passing him and then realized it was an expert. I never realized I was in the lead for 2-3 laps. Going into turn 1 David Pullen passed me on his pimped out R-6. I did my best to stick with him, and try to take the lead back, but I never could get the line. I crossed the line 2nd place, just a short distance behind the leader.
These podium finishes are much sweeter due to the fact that many family members were in town for my son James' graduation. Mom, Dad, brother, neice, Mom and Dad in law, Sharon, James, Lacy, and lacy's friend Rai.
Big thanks to Kenny for pushing/mentoring me, and Jeremy for all his help as well.
Leaving the track on Jimmy DeLoach Pkwy, a freakin Bloomingdale cop clocked me at 70 in a 55. To make matters worse, my wife was in her car following me. He gave us both a ticket for speeding. What a dousche! Empty road, and he wants to ticket us. I hope he chokes on a drink of water, and pukes all over his ticket book.
I'll let Kenny and Amy tell their own stories.
Hell of a story Dan, congrats, you certainly earned it :wtg: Wish I could've been there to shoot, and to cheer you guys on. Sorry, work intervened :crap:

There were alot of crashes during the day yesterday. People were pushing hard, and the heat of the Georgia sun was doing a number on the track. The track was making the tires feel a little greasy, so I'm sure that is what got some people to crash.

This is pretty sick KR but I'm not suprised. You Matt and Trey's riding talents never cease to amaze me.
Question, can anyone explain why the Charleston, SC produces such fast racers?

Must be something they do to them at birth..... Louisiana boys go hard and crash bikes! Maybe Amy is from Da Boot. Her rookie season may just top mine for wrecking ;)

Since your on the topic of crashing. You will never guess who my Nesba control rider last week was at Road Atlanta? The one and only Ned Brown aka "Peanut". I don't know if you remember him or not Jason, but this guy has to have the CCS record for the most crashes in a season. He was actually a pretty fast racer, he just crashed a lot. The previous time seeing him was after he and Maffia Man crashed in turn 4 at RR.

what did you get down to Dan?
My first race was mostly in the 18's with like a 18.1 being my best. I have no idea what race 2 was since it was the last race of the day...I never saw the times. I'm sure they were comparable, if not faster, than race 1.

ok, here's my latest crash story... First, the bike has been giving me problems since the 24th with a nasty chatter in the front end. Come to find out the nut on the top of my steering dampener was backed all the way off. Well that chatter caused my transponder to spin around and get stuck between my fork and frame. Couldn't make a right turn to save my life. That was Saturday. Sunday, aside from being hungover as shit in the morning, felt much better. Felt pretty decent going into the race. Of course I killed it on the start 3 times...cuz messing up the starts is what I do. The entire grid (including Kenny who entered the SV in the Heavyweight Twins class) was in turn 1 by the time I made it off the line. I caught up to them and had 2 people passed by the end of the first lap. Picked off 3 or 4 more by the 7th lap and followed 2 guys around for the last. Went to pass both of them on the inside and hit the slick spot that Trey had warned us about when we got there. Being that I was just ahead of those 2 guys, my first thought was that they were going to hit me, so I checked up and SUPERMAN!!! Flew off into the sand berm. Ruined my nice shiny Arai.
Lessons learned...
*Always listen to Trey!!
*Do not go for a pass that makes no difference in the outcome of your race- the last 2 guys I was passing were in different classes.
*It's always better to lowside than to check up and Superman into sand berms.
Important things though. I ran several laps in the 24's, even with all that craziness, so I'm improving :D and learning how to crash well
Kenny finished 2nd in that race... showoff!
