I came up with this years ago, but I only recently posted it on another forum. Its scary accurate for most people.

The Standard Sportbiker Pattern

Total Newbie - we all start here.
Squid - some stay here longer then others.
Reformed Squid - now aware of the squidlyness. occasional moments of squidding, but mostly sane.
Normal Sportbike Rider. - street only guys stop here... you can stay here your whole life happy.
Normal Sportbike Rider with a Few Trackdays - testing the drug.
More Trackdays, still mostly street - liking the drug
More Trackdays then street - addicted to the drug
Forget Street altogether, Track Only. - suddenly, the street, that you've ridden on for years, is no longer safe. on the flipside, rather then riding The Pace, you feel the need to go faster, or "its not worth it".. and faster is too dangerous for the street. also around this stage the above trackday guys get a kid or something.
Race. -- because hey, eventually just driving in circles on a track gets boring.
Debt. -- racing costs money.
Race -- i saved up some money! yay!
Debt -- damn good thing we like ramen noodles and hotdogs.
End -- give up riding because it costs too much.

Forget Street altogether, Track Only. This is where I'm at but may race some but not too much. This is very insightful in how riders progress through stages.

I would say I'm the same, but I think i will get a street bike soon prolly a motard. I just love trying to lower my lap times i will do trackdays and a race or two a year until I'm 50.

I was more like this
Normal Sportbike Rider
Race. -- because hey, eventually just driving in circles on a track gets boring.
Debt. -- racing costs money.
Race -- i saved up some money! yay!
Debt -- damn good thing we like ramen noodles and hotdogs.
Normal Sportbike Rider with a Few Trackdays - testing keeping more money in pocket than bike
More Trackdays, still mostly street - liking the money saving
More Trackdays then street - uh oh
Forget Street altogether, Track Only. - suddenly, the street, that you've ridden on for years, is no longer safe. on the flipside, rather then riding The Pace, you feel the need to go faster, or "its not worth it".. and faster is too dangerous for the street. So, said friends spend more time on track than street
End or are we?-- give up riding street motorcycles and buy mountain bikes because it costs much less.
