Thanks for the heads up Randy. I pinned this to the top for more visibility.

Hope the bikes get found and the thieves get some street justice. I know all too well what it's like to have a bike stolen.

My FJR is in the back of my truck right now, and backed up to the curb, DOA (electrical system's dead right now). It'd take some brave, strong, and stupid mofos to get it now.

This particular attempt was made in an apt. complex off of Greenridge Road... NOT West Ashley.

Any apt. off Greenridge Rd is a hot spot for theft. I had one bike stolen, one bike trailer stolen, and my car broken into twice.

Another bike was picked off last night 2006 yellow cbr 4 days old.

anyone got race work for an r1? we can make her look pretty, set her out, watch it for a few nights. what do we have to loose? any other ideas?

SCMedic

Who needs race work, just clean it up, and street fighter it. I'd be all about the all night armed watch...Plus I have a bunch of cop buddies from work...

05-22-2006, 07:08 PM
I am hoping on a new idea...
If i can organize track days, drag nights, and party events... well its time to work on a problem we have... bike theft. Among us we have alot of key players. and a very large crowd. WE are sick of this theft cops not doing shit thing.... I know this from personal experience... {anyone remember when my zx6 was at hooters? the cops let my bike leave...} Well there was this little ity bity group along time ago that banned together here in south carolina. they were a force to be recond with... they were the south carolina Molisha. {sp}
SO what do we need. a bike, kinda flashy and lo jack {or some kinda gps tracking} A buddy of mine in orlando has lo jack and when his bike was stolen they tracked it and found 4 other bikes chained to it. So we get this bike and install lo jack. Then {fuck N.chas} we get the reciever. Track the bike call the cops {or worse PIPE BEATIN MOFO's!} poof done.
The prob, no one wants there bike stolen including me. I figured to do something like that would take about $12000. sounds like alot right. well i figure i know about 600 bikers. do the math $20 each right? ok so there will be some issues. fine As i throw events we take in money for this. raise it... I know it sounds like a pain in the ass but hell how much longer are we going to take this shit? I say bike week 2007... we ruin a thiefs night.

Psst, Randy, let's discuss this offline, face-to-face, or at least through PM's. I might even set up a limited membership forum just for this purpose, but getting together with people we trust and cracking this nut is the way to go.

Discussing it openly here =

Randy - if you are raising the money for a bike #1-who pays the insurance on it for purposes of theft, and #2- once you find out who steals it, you get the bike back - WHO OWNS IT? 600 bikers at $20 a piece?

05-22-2006, 11:21 PM
Im not hunting one thief... I would continue to hunt.
mike i understand. however if i dont catch shit however run off the thiefs.. same goal.

why should the cops care they know how many bikes are stolen and the know how many bikes are "stolen" also they know that odds of finding them are very slim and also they put it all on the insurance companies what they should do is require the shops to track the vin numbers and shit there was a guy here in charleston that had a bike stolen and an insurance adjuster found it in north carolina just because he went to the shop and looked at all of the bikes vins and hadthem checked out the next thing is the cops need to get off of there lazy asses and check the vin numbers when thy stop people how manyt times have you been ulled over and the cop checked the vin on the bike and compared it to the registration one of the big things they do is steal them paint them and slap tags from a different bike on them that are registered the next thing is that the dmv needs to get smart and check the vins when you go to register the bike that is what florida did to me years ago ...........we will see this week or next when i go to get tags and see if they even check to see if the bike is ridable considering that this will be the first time that it has been registered since being branded

If you are registering a new bike in SC not bought at a dealer you must bring it in to the DMV to verify the VIN #. I believe this started late last year. Cops have more important things to do than worry about a stolen bike or car. The people that are doing these crimes are bad, however the cops main objectives are to catch drugs, drunk drivers, murderers, rapist, child molesters, and traffic violations. Bike theft would be way down the list. So what can we do? Stop making it so easy for the thief’s. If you live in certain areas you should know that your bike is at risk, if you park you bike in certain areas such as the mall you should know that it is at risk. Here are a few preventive measures that can help you to keep you bike. Please add to the list if you have something to add. BTW cops don't usually check the vin # when they pull autos, so why should they do this with motorcycles. It would be nice but that wouldn't keep your parted out bike off eBay.

1. Invest in a good motorcycle lock and chain. Chain you bike to something such as a tree or parking meter. Most thief’s just pick up the bikes and dump them into a truck or van. Disc lock are almost like having nothing.

2. Garage your bike as much as possible. If thief’s don't see your bike they will look for another easy one. They could ride over to N. Charleston and find one parked in the apt. complex on green ridge road, or just ride over to Mt. Pleasant and pick one up in the town festival parking area.

3. If I had a fancy new $10,000 bike I would certainly invest in a $200 alarm with kill switch, and tilt sensor. This would stop the amateur lock busting thief.

4. Get full coverage insurance? Because if a thief wants it bad enough it's theirs, end of story.
