This event is two days every and is planned to continue. Can we make this a sticky and modify dates as needed?

I forgot to add that this is not an official track day, so you guys or gals can bring your bikes configured street legal.

The consolation is that at least the track is being used, instead of pretty much sitting, like it did for years.

on the flip side.... are you required to have their BS qualifying tests before you can ride on base?

Yep, sorta - a current MSF course. I'm good for another two years.

So a (govie) friend of mine brought up two interesting questions:

- can a govie sponsor a contractor? If so, one-to-one, or one-to-___?
- can the track be rented out by a govvie

My own personal question - would people want pics?

The scene is pretty laid back over there so I'm sure the regular sponsoring rules apply per the weapons station. I wouldn't think they'd have any issues with spectators. The more the merrier. Kenny did you hit up Aaron? Will you be able to come through with the grand opening still?

That's awesome to hear. Thanks for posting! I hate I will miss this, I will be out of town (I know, just got back but I haven't seen Alabama family since April). I'd love to go to one of these. I don't know how anyone who's eligible can pass up a free track day. Sure, it might be cheesy, but it's a chance to improve one's skillset. (read "chance to save your own ass when some texting teen cuts you off in traffic.")

Have fun out there and take pictures!

do they frown upon showing up with a bike that has race plastics/number plates on it?

How about DOT instead of DOD? I wouldn't mind coming out there.

Sorry guys, but I am pretty sure they are not going to let non Active Duty or Reserve ride out there. I was just trying to utilize this forum to reach out to those people because we don't always get memos on base until it has already happened. When I mentioned sponsoring someone on I meant that if you had a military buddy and you didn't mind spectating, then they might be able to give you a lift onto the installation to hang out.

Nice, didn't know they were allowing us lowly Govies out there! I'll try to make the next one...way too much going on today. Saw some of Aaron's pics on facebook, looked like a nice crowd.

Yep, it's worth it. Also, you can learn a lot on that little track, I know I did.

That place is responsible for a lot of Air Force/Navy folks going to the track at RRR and Jennings. It's the first track that a lot of us ever went to and got hooked. I love that little track.

Had I not gone there I would have never gone to a track.
Thought I was doing pretty good after my first time there, then I went to RRR and got the shit scared out of me.

Good on the DOD for doing at least one thing right. It's got some people off the street and riding in a much better track environment which we all know is safer.

Plus I met a shit load of cool people "CJ members" at trackdays.:yeah:
