This one deserves a bump. I still geek out watching it!
Did a little googling...looks like you can DIY your own for about $100 using R/C helicopter parts. (Travis you have any xp with this?) A head-bearing hold gyro with a tiny servo will do the trick, but I guess people are having problems with gyro drift...how would you get the camera to level itself in between turns?
and I'll admit, I just added 'googling' to my spell-check dictionary

Ive messed with the light based camera angle adjusters, but i havent bought a helicopter gyro to play with yet.
ive read plenty about them, and its something ive been meaning to try, i just havent gotten to it yet.

Yeah, best I could come up with is an IR horizon finder. Not cheap. I wonder how bad the drift really is--would the gyro hold up ok for 20 minutes? An hour? Might be worth it to just forego the leveler.

best way to know is to find out for yourself.....
I know i was looking at ~ $300 to have a self contained gyro cam... ~150 if you just did the cam, and already had some kind of recorder to hook it upto. most of that cost is the gyro itself.
