Ok here's the story. I lost second gear in the transmission three weeks ago doing a track day with STT at Carolina Motorsports Park. The motor has roughly 9000 miles on it. About 2000 of the 9000 miles are track miles. I purchased the bike brand new from Extreme Sports Yamaha in August of 2007. This bike has been absolutely pampered which is why I don't understand why I lost second gear. As a street bike the oil was changed every 2000 miles and when I went track only it was changed every other trackday using Mobil1 full synthetic oil. I was going to do a supersport build and replace the transmission since I had to pull the motor but I decided to go a different route. I am selling the motor as is. I assure you that this is a very strong motor! When I lost second gear I immediately shut the bike off so I wouldn't circulate any broken parts through the motor. I'm not even sure if they're any broken parts at all but I didn't want to risk it. Attached are two pics. One is what the bike looked like as a street bike and the other is how the bike currently sits in my garage. The broken motor is still in the bike. I will hopefully have it out within the next week. Asking price for the motor is $350.00 plus shipping. Pm me if you have any further questions.

Hey Bud, before you sell that motor I would have it looked at. You may have only Broke or bent a shift fork. I'm no mechanic but it could be something thats not so expensive to fix. Anyway Good Luck.

Yeah, I talked to a few people about it. I know that it may be something very simple like a shift fork but, unfortunately, that's not where the majority of the repair cost is. It's in the labor. I don't have the knowledge nor the tools to do it myself.

PM me your number. Gonna have a local guy call you. Cola Powersports did a number on him and he needs a 07 motor. Kid lives out here by me and I am sure he would be interested. I will get you two together and you can go from there. Hope your well bro...

I understand, If you live in Charleston I would say take it to DIY. They have a tech there that can help you every step of the way. If you are going to buy a new motor I would suggest looking to see if an 08 motor would go in that thing. The 06-07 motors are not the most reliable for track riding. My 06 blew up and a friend of mines 07 did as well. They were both rod Bearing issues.

I looked at an 08 motor but they wanted more than what I was willing to spend. Bought another 07.

The motor is sold btw.
