i haven't posted anything on here in quite a while, but i think the last week's events might be worthy of a few words.
for those of you who haven't heard, there was a motorcycle accident last saturday (may 20) which ultimately claimed the life of a fellow rider. Bruce Hewston, who rode a metallic green honda f3, passed away on monday night just after midnight from complications resulting from his accident. he was relatively new to the area, but apparently made many good friends despite his short time in charleston. i had the pleasure of meeting him a couple times, and he came off as a really good guy who wasn't afraid to just start a conversation in an effort to get to know you, and shared the same passion for riding motorcycles that is evident in most of us. hopefully a few of you have run across him since he's been in town.
on a side note, many of you might remember meeting a friend of mine named Leah at some point during the last year, hanging out with me, and sometimes charles and sandy. She is an amazing girl. Always sweet, always happy, and generally just fun to be around. Sadly enough, she was dating bruce at the time of the accident. she was at the scene, and i believe she stayed with him the whole time he was in the hospital up until he passed. for bruce's friends who don't ride, for his family, and especially for Leah, i think it is important for us to let them know that as a fellow rider, their loss is felt by many more people than they are aware of. i pray that bruce will rest in peace, and that those he left behind will live to ride another day.
