View Full Version : Hotbodies and tires
I've been out of the racing scene for some time, so, how's Hotbodies racing plastic compared to others? It's pretty cheap so there has to be a catch. And where is the best place to buy racing tires and which tires are the majority running? Thanks!

Hotbodies sucks but its cheap and we use it. Godfather is pretty good for the price.
And DUNLOP is the only tires I run. There is a difference in tire manufacturing and compounds. I hate the D208GP american tires. They are the 758 medium compound but I stil don't like them. The front tire is too stiff and chatters a lot. But they are cheap at only $249 a set direct from Race Tire Services.
The new D209GP tires are awsome. Almost as good as slicks. I think they are $369 a set with a 190 rear. And the slicks are awsome but you can only get the rear in a 195 and most bike require you to move back the rear wheel to fit it. You must have 12mm from the tire to the swingarm. $389 a set I beleive. Both the D209 and slick are now available in triple compound construction for the rear. 3 or 4 different compounds to choose from.

I've never had hotbodies, but I've heard the same comments about it that Matt is saying. Well, I have godfarthers bodywork this year, and unfoutunately I've tested it already. First of all it is cheap, only $400 for a full set. This is hard to beat. I think that it is too brittle though. When I crashed, I had cracks in the bodywork that shouldn't have happened. Anyway, it wasn't as good as the sharkskin that I had, but for the price, I'll probably buy it again.
Tires, well I dont run the dunlops because they dont make the current tires in a 160 for my bike, and the old 207 gp sucks. I am running the new pirelli pro's this year. I think this is one awsome tire compared to last years tire. I think you really need to try both the dunlops and pirelli tires to see what you like best.
So, how far along are you on this bike? Are you going to bring it to one of the up coming trackdays?

I got the bike running and it surprised me it runs so well. I've still got to do plenty more and I won't be ready for a few more months, I think. It's a money thing, just a little at a time.
